Monday, April 1, 1968 at the District Courtroom, Williamson County Courthouse, Georgetown, Texas for the purpose of a Public Hearing on the Revised Urban Renewal Plan, South San Gabriel Project TEX R-102. Mayor Jay C. Sloan pre- siding; the following councilmen and officials were present: Edward Lee Evans, Hubert H. Brock, William R.-Eanes, Doyle Lyda, City Manager Charles D. Eyeington, and Assistant ity Manager Claud Eads. Councilman Harry Gold was absent. " Urban Mayor Sloan explained the purpose of the Public Hearing, gave a brief Renewal history of Urban Renewal in Georgetown, and read the Notice of the Public Public Hearing that was published in the Williamson County Sun Newspaper, placing Hearing special emphasis on the location of the South San Gabriel Project and the Boundary of the Project. Mayor Sloan introduced the following members of the Georgetown Urban Renewal Agency. Board of Commissioners James A. Rehler, Chairman Wallace Evans, Vice -Chairman Rodney Montgomery, Member Charles A. Forbes, Member Staff Jimmie 0. Rector, Executive Director V Mrs. Frances Cardwell, R location Supervisor James Shanklin, Jr., Rel6cation Counselor (Third Party Contract) Gene P. Hobart, Planning Consultant James A. Kehler, Chairman of the Board of Commissioners, presented the South San Gabriel Revised Urban Renewal Plan TEX R-102, the feasibility of relocation of displaced families and individuals, and the financing to be undertaken by,the City of Georgetown. . James A. Kehler, Chairman of the Board of Commissioners, explained the Question and Answer Pamphlets handed out pertaining to basic facts on Urban Renewal in Georgetown, Rehabilitation efflomes, Relocation -of Families, and the Purchase of Property. Mayor Jay C. Sloan afforded the opportunity for any person or organiza- tion present to present their views regarding the Revised South San Gabriel Urban Renewal Project Plan. Questions arose from families and individuals wanting to know when the Urban Renewal Program would start in Georgetown. They were answered by Mayor Sloan and James A. Kehler, Chairman of the Board of Commissioners, stating that no definite time was scheduled but it would commence as soon as possible. Davis Mayor declared Public Hearing closed and recessed and later Council Building had meeting in discussing Old Davis Building with Gene Hobart in regard to Library housing the Library and City Office. Mr. Hobart agreed to make a rough City Off. estimate of cost in renovating the building and including installing an (Hobart) elavator.
