HomeMy WebLinkAboutMIN 01.09.1967 CC-RI.0.0.F. January 9, 1967 The City Council met in regular session on the above date, Mayor Jay C. Sloan, presiding. The following councilmen and officials were present: William H. Lanes, Doyle Lyda, Edward Lee Evans, A. W. Hoyt, Jr., City Manager Charles D. Eyeington, City Attorney Joe B. McMaster and Assistant City Mana- ger Claud Eads. Also present were: Mrs. Janetsky, Drew Ballard, Mrs. Baker, 5 Sanders Letbetter with Southwestern States Telephone Company, John Rhodes, Jr. and Don Scarbrough. Motion by Evans and seconded by Eanes that minutes of meeting December 12, 1967 be approved as presented. Motion carried by unanimous vote. General Fund bills in amount of 82,749.67 and Utility Fund Bills in amount of $15,074.49 were presented for approval. Motion by Hoyt and seconded by Eanes that balls be approved and paida Motion carried by unanimous vote. Mayor stated that I.O.O.F. Lodge's attorney in Wichita Falls turned down the city's proposal to build lodge hall in Community Center Building in San Gabriel Park. Janetsky Mrs. J. L. Janetsky stated that she and Mr. Janetsky would like to have Airport a longer renewal clause in contract at Airport so it would be profitable to update the operations of Airport. Mayor stated that he was not able to contact parties interested in buying interest with Mr. Janetsky at Airport. Airport Manager stated that it was possible to get 50% of cost (up to 820,000.00) Runways in resurfacing runways at airport by Request for State Grant to Texas Aeronautics Commission, 204 West 16th St. Austin, Texas. State Mayor read letter from State Highway Department in reference to traffic Highway survey at intersections of Highway 29 and Church Street and Highway 29 and Survey Main Street. Highway Department stated that at this time traffic volume did not warrant a traffic light. Survey will be conducted at intersection of Highway 29 and College Street when personnel is available. Housing Manager stated that he was having a windshield survey made of houses Code in the San Jose area with idea of upgrading property and getting the Survey property more in line withhousing code. Mosquito City Manager stated that State Health Department was going to meeduct Eradica- a mosquito eradication program and survey the conditions which may affect tion our health. This survey will beo ate nos cost to city other than the expense of having the survey forms printed. Front-end Mayor appointed Hoyt and Lyda to contact Herbert Sullivan in reference Loader to purchasing front-end loader and review proposed bids. Bids were as follows: Balderson-Berger Eqp. Co. 4,795.43 Girard Machine & Supply 4,810.00 Central Texas Eqp. Co. 5,587.00 Tom Fairey Company 5,651.77 Hi -way Mach. Co. of Waco 5,750.00 Cable TV Motion by Evans and seconded by Eanes that Don Scarbrough be granted Scarbrough Cable TV Franchise Contract to be same as latest contract with Mr. Reichel, all of which is subject to approval by City Attorney.
