The following Councilmen and officials being present, Edward Lee Evans, Doyle Lyda, Jay C. Sloan, Hubert H. .Brock, Charles D. Eyeington, City Manager, Claud Eads, City Secretary, Joe B. McMaster, City Attorney, Derrell Bradford, City Judge. Also present was Drew Ballard with K. G. T. N. Radio Station, John Cardwell with Williamson County Sun Publishing Company. Motion by Jay C. Sloan and seconded by Hubert Brock that Minutes of July 12-65 meeting be ap- proved as presented. Motion carried by unanimous vote. Motion by Hubert Brock and seconded by Doyle Lyda that General Fund bills in the amount of $1,133.51 be paid. Motion carried by un- aminous vote. City Manager's report was discussed. Safety lights on I. H. Highway 35 was discussed. City Manager Eyeington was instructed to look into the opening of Ash Street between 4th and second Streets. Regional EAA SW Fly -in to be held on October 8, 99 10 at the Georgetown Airport was discussed. Motion by Edward Lee Evans and seconded by Jay C. Sloan that tax rate for 1965; and 1966 as follows: General Fund 57¢, Airport "Bond 5¢, Street Bond 3¢ total of 65¢1: Motioncarried by unanimous vote. Fire works ordinance was discussed and table for the present. Trailer house situation was discussed no action taken. Motion by Jay C. Sloan and seconded by Hubert Brock that City Attorney prepare or- dinance changing name of 12th Street to University Avenue. Motion carried by unanimous vote. Motion by Edward Lee Evans and seconded by Doyle Lyda that recreation board be`paid $85.00. Motion carried by unanimous vote. A fee of $3000 to reconnect water service and a fee of $3.00 to reconnect electric service when services are disconected for non-payment was adopted by the Council Manager Charles D. Eyeington stated that the Audit of City Books would begin on September 109 1965 of the past fiscal year. 'The following ordinance was read in full: ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING AND DIRECTING THE MAYOR OF THE CITY OF GEORGETOWN, WILLIAMSON COUNTY, TEXAS, TO MAKE A FORMAL WRITTEN REQUEST TO THE TEXAS HIGHWAY DEPARTMENT OF THE STATE OF TEXAS,'FOR'CONTINU= LIGHTING FACILITIES OF THE ROADSIDE OF INTERSTATE 35 FROM LEANDER ROAD INTERSECTION WITH INTER- STATE 35 TO THE ANDICE ROAD INTERSECTION WITH U. S. INTERSTATE 35 TO LESSEN THE HAZARDS TO TRAFFIC CAUSED BY DEER CROSSING. 434 On motion by Lyda and seconded by Hoyt, the above Ordinance was adopted. �IG'dJni/InrC6 �cnrt �•4�r �f,=' A Special Meeting of the City Council was called for August 30, 1965, for the purpose of discussing the budget of Fiscal Year 1965-66.
