HomeMy WebLinkAboutMIN 04.12.1965 CC-R41 Georgetown, Texas. April 129 1965 The City Council met on the above date Mayor R. S. Elliott presiding. The following Councilmen and officials were present. E. P. Miles, Jay C. Sloan, Doyle Lyda, Edward Lee Evans, A. W. Hoyt,Jr. Hubert Brock, Lee C. Black, City Manager, Claud Eads, City Secretary, Fred Knauth, Joe B. McMaster, City 'Attorney, Jessie Lozano, Fire Chief, Claudie Mayo, Electric Superintendent, John Allan and Less Hudson, with Bryant and Curington Engineers, Kyle Orsman, Chief of Police, Rodney Montgomery, Joe McCook, Jr. City Auditor, D. D. Sharpe, Drew Ballard, Don Scarbrough, a group of ladies representing the various women's and Civic clubs, with respect to donation to Indigent people in payment of hospital care. Joe B. McMaster stated that the Council could not legally make a contribution to the above cause. Manager Black read minutes of meeting held, on March 15th, March 29th, and April 17, 1965. Minutes were goproved as read. Manager read reports for the month of March and presented General. Fund Bills in the amount of $476.81. Motion by Mmes and seconded by Hoyt that reports be accepted and bills be paid. Motion carried by unanimous vote. Canvass returns: TO THE HONORABLE RAWLEIGH S. ELLIOTT, MAYOR. We, your committee appointed to canvass the returns of the Regular City Election held on April 6, 1965, to elect three (3) Aldermen for a two year term each, reports as follows: That James Manning received 71 votes for Alderman. That Jay C. -Sloan received 268 votes for Alderman. That A. W. Hoyt, Jr. received 267 votes for Alderman. That Hubert H. Brock received 256 votes for Alderman. That Dee Dee Sharpe received 1 vote for Alderman. Total votes cast of E. L. Evans D. E. Lyda 418 r=: Mayor declared Jay C. Sloan , A. W. Hoyt, Jr„ Hubert H. �.< Brock elected for a 2 year term to the office of Councilman. John Allen Engineer and Architect for Bryant and Curington Engineers discussed the remodeling of the present office, fire hall and police department. Mr. Allen stated that the total cost would be about 23,000.00 dollars.. Plans were examined and discus:�ed but no action was taken until further study. Carl D. Autry from Santa Anna, Texas discussed with the council the possibility of establishing a pool hall in Georgetown. The councilmen were favorable impressed, but stated that there would be an ordinance regulating the operation of the pool hall. Mayor Elliott appointed Hubert Brock and Doyle Lyda to serve on the Recreation Board. Dee Dee Sharpe discussed at length the problemd he is having with the sewer water backing up in his yard and being unable to flush toilets on account pf water logged sewer lines. Mayor suggested that something be done to correct Mr. Sharpe's situation. PETITION TO THE HONORABLE MAYOR AND ALDER&IEN OF THE CITY OF GEORGETOWN,TEXAS: We, the undersigned Residents and Tax Payers of the City of Georgetown, Texas, are seeking thru your Honorable body some Relief from the flooding of our Property Caused by the poor drainage of Austin Avenue at the Corner of 16th Street. Austin Avenue over -flows every time there is a heavy dovm- pour of rains. We think this flooding could be eliminated if proper Drainage was constructed at Austin Ave. and 16th Street, as there is a very small Flood -Trap and it is impossible for the same to take care of the amount of Water which should go -through this Drainage Trap. McCook, Jr, presented his Audit for the year from Sept.l, 1963 to August 31, 1964 and discussed at length different phases of Audit. Motion by Jay C. Sloan and seconded by A. W. Hoyt, Jr, Audit report be accepted . Motion carried by uaanimous vote. Yanager Black presented his budget covering period from Sept.., 64 to August 31, 1965. Motion by Jay C. Sloan and seconded by A. W. Hoyt, Jr. that budget be approved. Motion carried by unanimous vote. RESOLUTION RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GEORGETOWN, TEXAS, DIRECTING THE MAYOR OF SAID CITY TO EXECUTE A DEED TO LOT NO. 5 IN BLOCK NO. 29 OF THE WILLIAMS ADDITION TO THE CITY OF GEORGE- TOWN ACCORDING TO THE MAP OR PLAT THEREOF, OF RECORD IN BOOK 1, PAGE 1309 PLAT RECOP.DS OF WILLIAMSON COUNTY, TEXAS, CONVEYIE G SAME TO WEAVER ANDERSON AND WIFE, LORA MAE ANDERSON. See Ordinance Book Page 41'1 Motion by Lyda aid seconded by Brock that above resolution be accepted.
