PETITION
We the undersigned as official representatives of our individual
organizations submit the following proposals to the members of the City
Council of Georgetown, Texas, with the request that these proposals re-
ceive the Council's prompt and earnest consideration:
1. That the Council include in their annual City budget a sum of at
least $82,500.00 to pay for debts incurred by the indigent at private and
out -of -county institutions for medical and nursing care.
2. That there be a thorough examination of the applicants for these
funds to assure that they cannot pay the debts incurred.
We suggest that the Williamson County Health Unit or some other such
organization be asked to conduct these investigations as they are familiar
with this type service.
3. That these funds be applied only to tie debts incurred by indigent
residents within City limits of Georgetown, Texas.
4. That the Council determine a method whereby this fund can be adjusted
annually according to the amount of indigent care requested in the pre-
vious year.
