The Council met in called session Mayor R. S. Elliott presiding the
following officials were present, Kennie 1iilcox, Jr., A. rd. Hoyt, Jr.
E. P. Miles, Doyle Lyda, Edward Lee Evans,.City Manager, Lee C. Black,
Claud Eads, City Secretary, Fred Knauth, Dan Dowd&, Chief of Police,
Joe B. MoMasters, City Attorneys Others present were, Sam Brady,
Harvey Miller, John Cardwell, Drew Ballard, Lester Ihms, Wilbur Munson,
Jay Wolf, J. D. 'Phomas, Fred Bell, Superintendent Georgetown Public Schools,
Carl Doering and Herbert::Baker.
Members of Georgetown Public School Board discussed at length
with the Council location of tiniest Side School and Junior High School and
the possibilities of securing utilities for each school. The City
Council was in accord with the School Board and agreed to serve them if at
all possible.
Harvey Miller stated that he and the people interested in the
Carver Park were opposed to the City Council selling any portion of
Carver Park as he thought all of the pres"nt land in the park was needed
for their activities in that area.
Motion by Evans and seconded by Files that City sell the
Georgetown School District approximately two (2) acres of land located
North of the present ball field and to the present 18th, btreet location.
Complete details to be contained in the land transfer# in the Carver Park
for a consideration of $1,000.00. Vote as follows, Ayes, Wilcox, Lyda,
Evans, Hoyt, Miles. Noes - None.
There being no further business on motion by Miles and seconded
by Hoyt meeting adjourn.
