The following Aldermen and Officials were present, Kennie Wilcox, Jr., Edward Lee -$;trans , A. W. Hoyt, Jr. Dan Dowda. Chief of Police, Fred Knauth, Joe B. McMaster, City Attorney, Douglas Benold, City Health Office9r, John Be Bryson, Director Williamson County Health Unit, L. G. Glover, General Superintendent, Reporters, Don Scarbrough, V�iray 1eddell, Douglas Hensles, with Rauscher, Pierce do Co, Ina. Mr. Hudson and Mr. Currington with Marvin Turner Engineers, Dwayne Thompson, Lloyd Williams, R. F. Be Morse. Manager Black read minutes of last regular meeting held July 8th, 1963 and called meeting held July 30th, 1963, Manager Black read reports for the month of July and submitted General Fund bills in the amount of V15.20. Motion by A. W. Hoyt and seconded by Miles that reports be accepted and bills paid. Motion carried by unanimous vote. Leonard F. Marburger Rightway Agent with the Texas Highway Department offered to purchase 6.296 Acres which represents land where the present City Dump ground is located at a price of $1,900400 . Mayor stated that operating expense for Sanitary land fill would cost City of Georgetown $9,850.00 per year. Motion by Evans and seconded by Miles that City refuse offer of $1,900.00 for 6.296 acres of land above mentioned. Notion carried by unanimous vote. Mayor Elliott appointed Tom Moore and Olin Pettijohn to serve on Board of Ewusliaation Board for term of 1 year. Motion by Evans and seconded by Wilcox that above appointment be approved . Motion carried by unanimous vote. AN ORDINANCE AN ORDINANCE PRESCRIBING FOR THE HEALTH EXAMINATION AND REGISTRATION OF FOOD HANDLERS IN THE CITY OF GEORGETOWN , TEXAS, DEFINING CERTAIN PHRASES AND WORDS IN THIS ORDINANCE, PRESCRIBING PENALTIES FOR VIOLATIONS OF PROVISIONS OF THIS ORDINANCE, REPEALING ORDI"Iv.'CES ORDINANCES OR PARTS OF ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT i+EREWITH AND PROVIDING A SAVING CLAUSE. Ordinance was read in full. Motion by Edward Lee Evans and seconded by A. W. Hoyt, Jr, that ordinance be passed on one reading only. Ayes- Wilcox, Evans, Hoyt, Miles. Noes- None. Mayor declared Ordinance passed. See Ordinance Book Pages 295- 296- 297• Mayor stated that there would be a called meeting of Council on August 15, 1963. 335 RESOLUTION The City Council of the City of Georgetown, Texas is impressed withthe beauty of the campus of Southwestern University, which beauty has been created by the sprinkler system which Mr. Aeely Landrum has so generously donated to that institution. This is not only an asset to Southwestern University, but in addition to enhancing the beauty of that part of our town upon which Southwestern University is situated, it is also a great inspiration and encouragement to other residents of Georgetown, particularly in this time of drouth, to beautify their own premises. Therefore, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of Georgetown, Texas-,, that the generosity of Mr. Neely Landrum, of Dallas, Texas, is greatly appreciated as being of great benefit to our city as well as to the institution to which the donation was made. Motion by Hoyt and seconded by Miles that resolution be accepted. Motion carried by unamious vote. Motion by Evans And%seoonded by Hoyt that proposed water & sewer Bond issue be 1285,000.00. Motion carried by unamious vote. AN ORDINANCE An ordinance repealing all ordinances, or parts of ordinances, or amendments thereto, that conflict with the terms or conditions of this ordinance and enacting in -lieu there6f a new ordinance , regulating plumbing work in the City of Georgetown, Texas; defining certain terms; providing for certain exemptions; providing for the enforcement of this ordinance an&,the issuance of permits and establishing certain fees; providing for speeification, materials And methods of plumbing instal- lations; providing penalties for violation of this ordinance ; pr+d- viding a severability clause. Motion by Evans and seconded by Hoyt that Ordinance be read in full and roll call was as follows, AYES, Wilcox, Evans, Hoyt, Miles - NOES- None. Ordinance was read in full. Platt under, University Terrace for Approval. Motion by Miles and seconded by Wilcox that the Platt be accepted and approved for recording. Motion carried by unanimous vote. Manager Black submitted requests from Texas Highway Department that Speed Limits on Highway x€29 and 81 be increased. Motion by Wilcox and seconded by Hoyt that Speed Limits in City limits on above highways remain as they are. Motion carried by un- animous vote. There being no further business on motion by Miles and seconded by Hoyt that meeting adjourn. BE IT ORDAINED BY TT?F CITY COUNCIL OF TIT CITY OF GEORGETOWN, TEXAS. That for year 1963, there shall be levied and collected an a.dvalorem tax of sixty five cents (.65�)on all property subiect to taxation by s�jid City undQr the constitution and laws of the state of Texas, for fiscal year ( Jan. 18t, 1,003 to December 31st, 1y63, and at a tax rate of on each 6ne hundred ($100.00) Lollars in vgluation. That when said taxes are collected the same be applied and paid out as follows: 1. To'the General Fund �?r support and maintenance of the said City, fifty 6even Cents (.571t)/each sixty five (.05,L) collected. 2. To:,the Bond Fund of that series of Bonds of the said City ,known as Airport Bonds, three (.03¢) of each sixty five (.65¢) collected. 3. To the Bond Fund of that series of Bonds of the said City known as atreet Improvement Bond series 1963. Five (.05/) of each sixty five (.65¢) collected. . The fact that prompt preparation must be made for the assessment and collection of taxes for the year 1903, created an emergency requiring, the rules providing that -an ordinance shall be read at three separate meetings before final passage shall be suspended, and such rules are here and now suspended and this ordinance passed; and it is ordered that it take effect from and after its passage.
