HomeMy WebLinkAboutMIN 11.13.1962 CC-R290 01 y C-4 N Georgetown, Texas. November 13, 1962 The City Council met in regular session on the above date, Mayor R. S. Elliott presiding. The following Aldermen and officials being present, Kennis Wilcox,Jr. A. W. Hoyt, Jr.,Doyle Lyda, E. P. Miles, Edward Lee Evans, City Manager Lee C. Black, Claud Fads, City Secretary, C. S. Sanders, City Tax Assessor and Collector, Lenard McLaughlin, Fire Marshall, Dan Dowda, Chief of Police, We K. McClain, City Attorney, Fred Knauth. Also present were George L. Boswell, Auditor, Miss Martha Bowmer and Mrs. Otis Persons, reporters, Bill Forest, Joe McMasters, Mr. & Mrs. Joseph Rose, E. Babe Smith, We T. Richel from Killeen. Manager Black read minutes of regular meeting held October 6th, which were approved as read. Manager Black read reports for the month of October and submitted General Fund bills for approval in the amount of $1,065.04. Motion by Edward Lee Evans and seconded by Doyle Lyda that teports be accepted and bills be paid. W. T. Richel of Killeen, Texas requested that the council grant 25 year Franchise to he and associates to install T. V, Cable System in Georgetown. He stated that the charge for installing would be $5.00 and a monthly charge of $5.25 per unit. Mr. Richel stated that Georgetown would receive programs from ABC, CBS and BBC Stations and Educational Program to be installed in Schools without charge. Mr. Richel stated that 2% Gross receipts would be paid to City. Bill Forest presented application to Council for Subdivision located South of Georgetown on Highway 81 known as Highland Park Subdivision. Motion by Edward Lee Evans and seconded by E. P. Miles to table all Applications for Subdivisions until Subdivisions Ordinance was passed and Approvecd. Roll call as follows, Ayes, Miles, Wilcox, Lyda, Evans, Hoyt, Noes- Nones, 1962. Manager Black read Annual Report for the year ending August 318t, George L. Boswell made a detailed report of his Audit to the City Council from Sept. 1, 1961 to Sept. 10 1962. Manager Black explained to the Council that there would be a small piece of land that would not be used by Highway Dept* when new Highway would come through Dump Yard. Motion by Hoyt, and seconded by Lyda that Manager Black contact W. W. Laubach with idea of selling the small strip of land to Mr. Laubach at the same price Mr. Laubach would receive from the Highway Dept. for rightway sold by him to Highway Dept. Motion carried by unanimous vote. Manager Black reported that all rents owed to the City were current. AN ORDINANCE PROMULGATING RULES AND REGULATIONS COVERING THE PLATTING OF THE LAND INTO SUBDIVISIONS THE CITY OF GEORGETOWN AND REQUIRING PLATS TO CONFORM TO SUCH RULES AND REGULATIONS IN ORDIM TO PROCURE THE APPROVAL OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GEORGETOAX DEFINING TERMS PROVIDING PENALTIES FOR TILE VIOLATION OF ANY OF THE PRO- VISIONS THEREOF, AND PROVIDING FOR THE PARTIAL VALIDITY OF THE SAID ORDINANCE AND PP,OVIDING FOR THE EFFECTIVE DATE OF SAID ORDINA1vCE. Motion by Hoyt and seconded by Evans that Ordinance be read by Caption only. Roll Call was as follows, Ayes, Miles,'Lyda, Evans, Hoyt, Wilcox, Noes, None. Ordinance was read by Caption. Alderman Lyda suggested that the Optimist Club would furnish all of materials to build seats for the Babe Ruth Ball field if the City would furnish labor. Motion by Hout and seconded by Miles that City accept the Optimist Club offer. Motion carried by unanimous vote. 'Mr. Joseph Rose requested that Council make an adjustment on his water bill for the monthes of August and September 1962 which he considered excessive. After detail discussion a motion by Lyda and seconded by Miles that no adjustment be granted for Mr. Rose. Motion carried by uannimous vote.
