August 13, 1962
The City Council met in regular session on the above date, Mayor
R. S. Elliott presiding. The following Alderman and officials were present,
Kennie ?Vilcox, Jr. A. VV. Hoyt, Jr., E. P. Miles, Dyle Lyda, Edward Lee Evans,
City Manager Lee C. Black, Claud Eads, City Secretary, Fred Knauth, W. K.
McClain, City Attorney, Derrell Brs.dfor4, Recorder, Lenard EzLaughlin, Fire
Marshall, Claudie Ilayo, Electric Superintendent, Dan Dowda, Chief of Police,
C. S. Sanders, City Tax Collector, John Cardwell, Firs. Otis Person, and
Don Scarbrough.
City Alanager Black react minutes of last meeting held July 9, 1962 and
these minutes were approved as read.
Manager Black read reports for the month of July and submitted
General Fund bills for approval in the amount of 1979.33• Motion by
Edward Lee Evans and seconded by E. P, T.Tiles that reports be accepted and .
bills he paid. Motion carried by unanimous vote.
Yanager Black presented list of all the rental property owned by
City of Georgetown and the amount of rentals recei-ed one ach piece of
property. The report reflected that all payments were paid up to date.
Joe B. McMasters Attorney appointed by Court to represent Georgetown
oil Vill requested that City Council reduce taxes for year 1961. Y otion by
Edward Lee Fvans and seconded by Kennie Wilcox Jr., that request to reduce
taxes for year 1961 on Georgetown Oil Ylill property not be granted. Vote as
follows, Ayes, Files, 1.4ilcox, Hoyt, Lyda, Evans, Noes, None.
T,,Tanager Black requested that City Council approve increase in Hater
Tapping Fees to read as follows.
3/4 In. 35.00
1 In. 50.00
12 In. 100.00
2 in. to 4 In. actual cost of each installation.
Lotion by A. lr. Hoyt, Jr, and seconded by Doyle Lyda that above Fees
be increased to be as stated above and to be effective as of October lst,1962.

Motion by. E. P. Miles and seconded by Wilcox that George Boswell be
employed for the year 1961 & 1962 to Audit 'the books .for the C�ty.-Ayes,lliles

Ylayor 91iott stated that there would be a called meeting of the

Council Tuesday night 21st of August to discuss public housing with the
hirm of Allen, Coates & Legge.
Mayor read report from Board of Equalization which was composed of
A. P. Prude , Chairman, Grady Watkins, and Leroy Berkman. Mr. Prude
stated in his letter that they had held hearings for a total time of 16
days for which compensation was due each member the amount of .240.00 each.
Mr. Prude stated that they had completed their duties and requested that
Council release them of their -duties.
Lotion by Lyda and seconded by E. P. Miles that Equalization Poar•d
be dismissed and board members be compensated and thanked for their services.
Potion carried by unanimous vote.
I,Fayor Fliott stated that 17allace Giddings Owner and Operator of
Giddings Yanufacturing Co. located in Georgetown was under impression that
his plant would have his City Taxes waived for a period of five years from
time his plant was in operation.
Motion by Edward Lee Evans and seconded by Doyle Lyda that since
the City Council does not hare the power or le -al authority to grant a tax
adjustment to Giddings Manufacturing Co. Tax adjustment be refused. `Dote
as follows ; Ayes, I'liles, i+ilcox, Lvand, Lyda, Hoyt, Noes- None.

THIRD READING . Motion by Hoyt and seconded by ��iles that Ordinance be read

City Recorder Derrell Bradford presented following list of Minimum Fines
for Pleas of Guilty Corporation Court, City of Georgetown,
List.

Rural fire truck take care of fires that are in our rural territory as
designated on our territorial map. And to be supervised by Fire Ghief;
City Manager, and Fire Marshall.. Motion carried by unanimous vote.
Electrical Code and Plumbing Code were discussed by the Council.
There being no further business, on Motion by Viilcos and sedonded
by Liles that meeting adjourn.
