May 14, 1962
The City Council met in regular session on the above date. Mayor,
Rawleigh S. Elliott presiding. The following Aldermen and officials
being present, Kennis ovilcox, Jr., A. #'. Hoyt, Jr., Doyle Lyda,
Edward Lee Evans, City Manager Lee Co Black, Charles Norwood, Assistant
City Manager, Claud Eads, Secretary, W. K. McClain, Attorney, Dan Dowd&,
Chief of Police, Lenard McLaughlin, Fire Varshall, C. S. Sanders, City
Tax Collector and Assessor. Also present were Rodney Montgomery, Jim Adkins,
Paul Hindelang, Bennie Drager, W. Co Shell, Dr, Hobson Martin, and Dan
Adamson.
Manager Black read minutes of April 9th. Called sessiozi of April 16th,
and April 23, 1962. Motion by Kennis Wilcox, Jr. and seconded by
A. W. Hoyt, Jr., that minutes of above mentioned meeting be approved as
read. Motion carried by unanimous vote.
Mayor Elliott appointed Committee of Kennie Wilcox, Jr., and
A. W. Hoyt, Jr., to canvass the return of The City Election held May
8, 1962 to elect one Alderman for one year.

Manager Black read reports for the month of April and submitted
General Fund bills in the amount of $583.52 for approval. Motion by
Edward Lee Evans and seconded by Edgar P. Miles that reports be ao—
cepted and bills be paid. Motion carried by unanimous vote.
Paul Hindelang and Bennie. Drager discussed the possibility of opening
the Swimming Pool for the coming season. The Mayor stated the Council
would cooperate fully with the recreation board in getting the swimming
pool in operation if possible for the coming season.
Mayor Elliott appointed A. P. Prude, Grady Watkins and Leroy Berkman
to serve on the Tax Equalization board. Motion by Edward Lee Evans and
seconded by E. P. Miles that appointment be approved. Motion carried by
unanimous vote.
Motion by Edward Lee Evans and seconded by Doyle Lyda that members of
board of Equalization be paid $15.00 for 8 hour day and time to be accounted
for by Members of board. Motion carried by unanimous vote.
C. S. Sanders discussed the procedure for revaluation of City property
and preparing tax rolls for coming year. Mr. Sanders also discussed the
status of Wesleyan Home as to whether the property was taxable. Mayor

suggested that Mr. Sanders look into the matter and ascertain if they were
to be taxed,

tiiilliam S. Lott Attorney/ receiver .of,/ Georgetown Oil Mill discussed
the possibility of City recending penalties and Interest on Taxes of
Georgetown Oil bill Y:oNo action was taken.
Council discussed Police departments activities with Chief pan Dowda
Council suggested that tickets be numbered and each ticket be accounted for,
that warning tickets be given for illegal U turns and other minor offenses,
safety lanes be made at 7th, and 8th, intersections. Motion by Wilcox and
seconded by Doyle Lyda that notice be published in Williamson County Sun
in reference to loud mufflers.
Council suggested that Manager Black make all purchases from local
merchants when merchandise is available.

Motion by Kennie'Wilcox/and seconded by E. P. Miles that Manager Blackis
salary be fixed at $8.400.00 per year, city to furnish him a car to be used on
all City business.
