HomeMy WebLinkAboutMIN 03.17.1962 CC-S259 March 17, 1962 The City Council met in Called session on the above date, Mayor C. A. Forbes, Alderman, A. W. Hoyt, Jr, Floyd Engvall, Floyd Jones, Lee C. Black, City Manager, Charles Norwood, 'Assistant City Manager, W. K. McClain, City Attorney, Claud Eads, City Secretary. Mayor Forbes announced that be had nbtified all councilmen of a special called meeting of the City Council for the purpose of rescinding the action of the Council on March 12th, 1962, regarding the calling of a special election to fill the unexpired term of Councilman Compton who resigned on March 12th, 1962. Those present for the special call meeting were councilmen Floyd Jones, A. W. Hoyt, Jr. and Floyd Engvall. The mayor having announced that the meeting would be held at 11:00 A. M. the meeting was called to order at 11= A. M. The following resolution weds presneted to the councils Resolution passed at a Special Call Meeting of the City Council March 17, 1962. Be it resolved that the resolution of March 12, 1962, passed by the City Council be and the same is hereby revoked. Said resolution pertains to the calling of a special election for the filling of the one year unexpired term on the City Council* to it further resolved that an election to fill the one year unexpired term be and the same is hereby called for May 8, 1962, said election to be held at the Fire Hall in the City of Georgetown, Texas, and Houston Pennington is hereby appointed election judge, with the authority to appoint assistants as needed. The City Clerk is hereby directed to post notices as directed by law. Canditates for this unexpired term shall file with the City Secretary, Claud Eads, their application for said unexpired term by Saturday, April 7, 1962, at 12s00 O'clock noon. Motion was made by Jones and seconded by Hoyt that the same be adopted. The resolution passed by unanimous vote of the Council. Those visitors at the special called meeting were Howard Fletcher, William S. Lott and W. 0. Fletcher, Don Scarbrough and Sam Brady.
