RESOLUTION OF RESPECT, IN MEMORY OF MARSH FAWN SMITH, DECEASED.
WHEREAS, Marsh Fawn Smith died January 9, 1961 at the age of
85 years= and
WHEREAS, Mr. Smith served Georgetown for"sia years as City
Alderman and held the office of Mayor from 1926 to 1946 ; and
WHEREAS, during the time that Mr. ;with served his City as Mayor
many permanent improvements were made in the City which shall endure
for many generations to comes such as the purchase of the City Park on
the San Gabriel River, the building of the Municipal Airport, the con—
tracts with `aver Colorado River Authority to furnish electricity to
the Cityl and many other projects could be listed that stand as a
monument to his memory; and
AHEREAS, this City Council desires to go on record as a mark of
public respect to the memory of this distinguished citizen whose
services and virtues have made our City a better place in which to live.
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council that in the
passing of Marsh Fawn Smith, our City has lost one of its most valued
citizens; that this coQrmnunity which prides itself on its churches and
Christian atmosphere has lost one of its most ardent witnesses for
Christ; that from the industrial field, we have lost a citizen who
has contributed much to the health and welfare of our community. We
here resolve that in the passing of Mr. Smith, the City has lost one of
its most valued citizens; and that the memory of his good deeds shall
be an inspiration to all that knew him.
