The City Council met in regular session on the above date. Mayor,C. A. Forbes
Alderman, Floyd Jones, A. W. Hoyt, Jr. Kennie Wilcox ,Jr. Floyd Engvall,
Lee Co Black, City Manager, Claud Eads, City Secretary, K. McClain, City
Attorney, Dan Dowda, Chief of Police, Lenard McLaughlin, Fire Marshall.
Mr. E. J. Jarrad and Dr. Hobson Martin were also present.
Manager Black read reports for the month of June and submitted General Fund
Bills in the amount of $1,161.89 for approval. Motion by F. E. Jones and
seoonded by Rennie iiilcox,Jr, that report be approved and bills paid.
Manager Black, Mayor Forbes and Alderman,Engvall previously met with the
County Commissioners Court in connection with the Williamson Co. Health Unit
to consider increasing donations for City to the Health Unit. It was suggested
that Commissioners Court pay Health Unit $ 1,260.00 instead of City of Georgetown
as entire County would benefit from contribution. The Court agreed to take
this proposal under advisement but it was Vie opinion of the members of Court
that it would not agree to increase donations.
Yr. Black read letter from Mrs. Earl Smith director of local girl
scouts thanking the city for its corporation in making the Scouts meeting
a success.
Manager Black presented bids for repairing water plant building roof
from Austin Roofing & Building Supply Co. $490.00 and Buaas & Sons $492.00.
Motion by Alderman Hoyt, and seconded by Alderman Wilcox that contract be
let to repair roof.
Manager Black suggested to council that a raise of 005X per hour be
allowed for hourly men. Notion by F, E. Jones and seconded by A. W, Hoyt,Jr,
that raise be granted to take effect with next payroll date.
There being no further business on motion by Wilcox and seconded by
Hoyt that meeting adjourn.
