HomeMy WebLinkAboutMIN 04.13.1959 CC-R197 April 13, 1959 The City Council met in regular session with the following present; Mayor C. A. Forbes, Aldermen, J. H. Compton, Ralph Freund, Floyd Jones, Kennie Ailcox Jr. and Alderman Elect, A. W. Hoyt, City Manager Lee C. Black, Assistant H. A. Partain City attorney McClain and Chief of Police A. P. Pickle. Minutes of the last meeting were read, Manager Lee Black feed the reports for the month of March and submitted bills in the amount of $678.22 for payment out of the General Fund. On Motion of Aid. �;ompton and seconded by Aid. Wi Icox the reports were accepted and bi IIs approved for payment. Manager Lee Black read a letter from 1'r. Ray Walden concerning a new location for the bus station, these locations were one on East Pth street formerly occupied by the McCook Accounting agency, one was in the building on the corner of Austin Ave. and West 7th street, and another at 12th and Austin Ave. The above locations were to be taken under advisement for further information, Mr. Black was to contact the Highway Department, in regards to Buses parking on Austin Ave. The Council discussed the matter of the City joining the School board in the Tax revaluation program. On motion of Aid. Compton and seconded by Aldo Jones, Mr. Black was instructed to convey our intentions that the City of Georgetown agrees to participate with :the_ Sohool Board to- the extent, of #4,000.00 dollars and to see if the equalization boards=could meet together::; Mayor Forbes appointed the following to canvass the election returns for the election held April 7, 1959, those appointed were Aid. Jones, Fredericson, and Freund. TO THE HONORABLE C. A. FORBES, MAYOR: We your committee appointed to canvass the returns of the City elections held April 7, 1959 to elect three -aldermen for the ensuing two years report as follows. There was a total of 60 votes cast as follows: J. H. Compton 60 Votes Kennie Wilcox, Jr. 60 Votes A. W. Hoyt 60 Votes Mayor Forbes declared the can.didated duly elected. Mayor Forbes delivered the Oath of Office to the three elected officers. THE FOLLaIIING WERE APPOINTED FOR A ONE YEAR TERM BY PAYCR FORBES -Mayor Pro -Tem Elmer Fredericson Attorney for the City W. Compton 198 L RESCLUTION APPROVING I.O.O.F. CEMETERY PLATT. On motion of Aldermen Fredericson, seconded by Alderman Cqmpton the above. resolution was adpoted by unanimous votes. RESOLUTION, Y/ESYLAN HONES On motion of Alderman Fredericson and seconded by Alderman Jones the above resolution was adopted by unanimous vote, see page Ordinance book. The City Council discussed the telephone situation affecting the people living on the Liberty Hill Road, the City Council voted to aid and assist these people in s*curing Telephone service.
