The City Council met in regular session with the following present;
Mayor Forbes - Aldermen Compton, Fredericson, Jones and Wilcox - Manager Black
Assistant Partain, Assistant Chief Dowdy, Secretary McCook with Mr. Brown,
Mr. Davol and Mr. Fletcher,
Mayor Forbes called on Mr. Brown of The Texas Municipal Retirement
System to explain the program to the council. Mr. Brown gave a brief
history of the -program and a outline of the requirements for the city
to participate. After a general discussion and several questions and
answers no action taken at this meeting.
Mr. Davol and Mr. Fletcher were then introduced as the joint managers
of the Municipal Airport. effective January 1, 1959 wi th a change in
the previous contract deducting the .02X per gallon of gasoline used in
their own operations and all charges on 100 octane rating.
Minutes of the last meeting were read and on objection of Alderman
Compton the following correction was made: Motion by Alderman Compton,
seconded by Jones - that the city loan and install a pump in the old
spring well for the use of Southwestern University in their campus
sprinkler system. The University to pay operating and maintenance cost
of the pump and (01/) one cent per thousand gallons for the untreated
water. City to assist in locating connection with main at College and
Sixth Streets. Motion Carried. Minutes approved with the inclusion of
th i s motion.
Mr. Black then read the reports for November and submitted bills
totaling $762.30 for the General Fund. Motion by Alderman Compton -
Wilcox, that reports be approved and the bilis paid. Motion carried.
Motion by Alderman Compton -Jones, that agreement with ra i 1 road be
approved permitting the city to cross the railroad right of way with a
sewer line. Motion Carried.
Mr. Black then informed thgoy sial of a sale of surplus property
consisting of 200 light poles - ZM volt transformers and some wiring
for about $1,600.00 with a cost of appy imateIy $14,024.00. to mb" tb-
G66rgetown Estimated aCtubl value of ,000.00. Motion by Alderman Compton -
Jones that Mr. 816ck•be authorized to make this purchase if possible. Motion Carried.
Motion by Alderman Compton that Mr. Black be given a salary increase
of $600.00•for 1959. Motion died for lack of a second•
Motion by Alderman Ylilcox-Compton, that action on salary increase be
deftrred until the next meeting due to the absence of two aldermen.
Motion Carried.
There being no further business on motion of Alderman Jones Council
adjourned.
