HomeMy WebLinkAboutMIN 07.14.1958 CC-RJuly 14, 1958 The City Council met on the above date in a regular session;the following were present; Alderman Compton, Fredericson, Freund, Jones and Wilcox, Manager Black, Assistant Partain, Chief of Police Pickle, City Attorney McClain, Secretary McCook and Mre Leonard McLaughlin and Mre Jetf Gordan. The mtnyt*s of the regular meeting, June 9, 1958, were read and approved as read. Manager Black then read the regular monthly reports and submitted bills for approval in the amount of $975.77 on the General Fund. On a motion of Alderman Compton, seconded by Freund reports were approved. On motion of Alderman Wilcox, seconded by Fredericson the bills were approved for payment. Mayor Forbes then called on Mr. Gordan who submitted a request to the council for the Installation of a street light at the corner of Ninth and Myrtle Streets supported by a signed petition of the property owners in that neighborhood. TELEPHONE RATE ORDINANCE - See Ordinance Book- Page No: �Nh� : On motion by Alderman Fredericson, seconded by Jones approval granted for third and final reading of telephone rate ordinance. The Telephone rate Ordinance war read by Alderman Fredericson and on a Roll Call Vote the ordinance passed as follows; Ayes - Compton, Fredericson, Freund, Jones and Wilcox: Nays None. On motion of Alderman Fredericson, Seconded by Wilcox the following were approved to sit as a Board of Equalization for the City; A. W. Hoyt, Jr*, Edward Lee Evans and A. P. Prude, Manager Black then requested approval of purchase of an Asphalt Distributor of 600 gallon com pacity from the Roy Klossn*r Comapny of San Antonio, Texas. Total purchase price to be =1,650.00 with the city to pay #650.00 cash, the balance to be paid from paving receipts from property owners. On motion of Alderman Compton, seconded by Freund approval was granted. Mayor Forbes than called on Mr. McLaughlin for a report on the signing of property owners for their share of paving costs. Mre McLaughlin stated that, In his opinion, it will be necessary to arrange sane type of financing program for the property owners if the paving program to to make any progress - After a general discussion, Mayor Forbes appointed the following as a committee to develope some plan of financing to be submitted to the council for approval; Alderman Freund and Wilcox, City Attorney McClain and Manager Black* Manager Black then read a report of a traffic count report at the intersection of College and Twelfth Streets* Report considered the installation of a trafic light at this Intersection unncecssary but did recommend the maintenance of a Safety Patrol during school hours•.
