HomeMy WebLinkAboutMIN 06.09.1958 CC-R186 June 9, 1958 The City Council met on the above date in a regular session, the following. were present; Mayor C. A. Forbes, Councilmen. J. H. Compton, Elmer Fredericsoq Ralph Freund, Floyd Jones, Kennie Wilcox Jr., Manager Lee C. Black, Assistant Mgr. H. A. Partain, City Attorney McClain, Don Scarborough, C. S. Sanders, H. H. Adams, Chief Audy Pickle, Mr. Forest, Mr. Sam Brady and Mr. I.J. McCook. The Minutes of the regular meeting, May 7, 1958, were read and approved. The minutes of the called meeting of May 231 1958 were read. A motion was made by Mr. Wilcox, seconded by Mr. Jones that the price on property $10,500.00 be inserted and referendum to read, (see referndum below.) The minutes were approved as corrected. Manager Black read reports for the month of May and submitted bills totaling $381.39 for approval of pay..%ent against the general fund. On a motion by Freund, second by Compton, the bills were approved for payment. Mayor Forbes then called on Mr. Adams who stated that he is modernizing his auction barn and would like more room down the highway; therefore, he requestes that he be allowed to purchase more land for the auction sale, additional parking space being the primary requirement. TELEPHONE RAT:: O:MI� See Ordinance Book, Page No.- On motion by Alderman Compton, seconded by Fredericson- The second reading of the Telephone Ordinance was made by Fredericson and a Roll Call vote was as followes; Ayes- Compton, Fredericson, Freund, Jones, and Wilcox- Noes, None. On the motion by Compton seconded by Fredericson, it was decided to call a referundeum election July 15, 1958 to authorize the sale of the city park to the Chamber of Commerce to be used as a site for construction of the Weselyan Home. The motion Carried. REFEHE,.DUtd VOTE For: Selling the City Park on 12th street to the Chamber of Commerce of Georgetown, Texas for the sum of 413,500.UU upon the condition that the Chamber of Commerce will convey the property to the Wesleyan Hones, Incorporated, to be used as the sit,e of a Retirement Home.,IAA Ygther stipulated that funds derived by the city of Georgeown4sashall be used to purchase, improve and equip another city park. A motion was made by Alderman Freund and seconded by Compton authorizing the Mayor to execute the contract to sell with the chamber of commerce subject to favorable vote on refdrendum election.
