April 14. 1958
The City Council met in regular session on the above date, Mayor J.T. Atkins
presiding. The following were present, Alderman J.H. Compton, Elmer Fredericson
Ralph Freund; Kennie Wilcox] & A.C. Woodfin. City Manager Lee Black, Assistant
Manager H.A. Partain, Mayor Elect, C.A. Forbes, Alderman Elect Floyd Jones, Chief
of Police Andy Pickle, Aselt Chief Dan Dowda, Attorney W.H. Nunn, & Leonard
McLaughlin.
The minutes of the previous meeting were read and on motion of Alderman Fredericson,
seconded by Alderman Compton were approved as read.
Mr. Black read his reports for March, and the reports of other officials and the
accounts to be approved and paid in the amount of $1,079.57 on the motion bf
Alderman Wilcox, seconded by Alderman Woodfin, the accounts were ordered paid
and all reports filed.
Judge Nunn came before the council and tendered his resignation effective
immediately. The Council accepted his resignation with regrets.
The City Council agreed to work with the Georgetown Study Club in regards to
building a concrete slab in the City Park on East 12th, Street,, The Park Committee
was authorized to work with these ladies.
RESOLUTION APPROVING WILLIAM ADDITION
On motion of Alderman Woodfin, seconded by Alderman Compton, the above resolution was
adopted see page 1.53 in ordinance book
Bids were opened on Painting the Water tower they were as follows:
Chicago Bridge & Iron Co.4095.00
Southern Tank & Tower Co. •------------ 3077.00
Courtney Construction Co. ---------- 3,700.00
All things being considered on the motion of Alderman Freund and seconded by
Alderman Compton the contract was awarded to Courtney Construction Co.
A clean up campaign for residence & Business concerns was set for April 21 through
April 26, during which time the City Trucks would haul off all trash, etc.;
placed near the curb.
On a motion made by Alderman Fredericson and seconded by Alderman Freund, lir. H.R.
Shepherd was elected as City Policeman. Votes wares Ayes, Compton, Freund,
Fredericson, Wilcox, Woodfin, Noest None.
Mayor Atkins appointed Alderman Compton, Freund, & Wilcox to canvass the City
election returns for Mayro & Aldermen held on April 1, 1958s the count was as
follower

We your committee appointed to canvass the returns of the City Election, held
April 1, 1958, to elect two alderman and a Mayor for the ensuing two years, report
as follows:
C.A. Forbes, for Mayor
Eddie Cloud, for Mayor
Floyd E. Jones for Alderman
B.K. Fredericson for Alderman

That the report of the committee is received, and it is here described that the said
C.A. Forbes, Floyd E. Jones, & E.K. Fredericson are each elected as stated in the
above report.
Mayor J.T. Atkin delivered the Oath of Office to the three elected officers.
The following were appointed for a one year term by Mayor C.A. Forbes.

The City Council met in a called session on the above date with the following present;

After long deliberation and study, it was unanimously decided to offer The Southwestern
States Telephone Co. approximately a 20% increase over the present rate. The new rate to
read as followa;
