Atkin presiding, the following aldermen and officials were present: Aldermen: J. C. Commpton. E. K. Fredericson, Kennie Wilcox, Jr., and A. C. Wowdfin. Officials: Lee C. Black, City Manager, Asst. Mr, H. A. Partain, W, H. Nunn attorney; A. P. Pickle, chief of po- lice; M. L. Cates, secretary. Minutes of the two previous meetings (regular and Called) were read and on motion Compton, seconded by Woodfin, were passed as read. Manager Lee C. Black read his monthly report, also the reports of the other city officials, showing accounts for approval and pay- ment $2,226.75. On motion of Ald. Wilcox, seconded by ald..Woodfin accounts were ordered paid and reports filed. RHSOLUTION PROTESTING THE DISCONTINUANCPI OF THM 0.07 MILES OF R. R. BET`VREN ROUND ROCK AND GEORGETOWN, AS FOLLO 3 WAS READ by Alderman 8. K. Fredericson, ordinance and committeeman on resolutions, Whwreas, the 9.97 miles of R. R. between0$cund Rock and 4eorgetown, known as "The Georgetown Tap", was promoted and built by certain en- terprising Georgetown citizens, in the year of 1876. it thereffterbbe- eoming the property of the I.. & G. N. , now the fasidtci Pacific Rail- road Company; and that for over eighty years this line or railroad has been of incalculable value to the City of Georgetown in contribut- ing to its industrial and social lifeg and that it is still of great value to the said City, and; Therese, the said Missouri Pacific Railroad Company; has made appli- cation to the U. S. Interstate Commerce Commission, for a permit to abandon, discontinue and remove the said line of railroad; and that should the said application be granted, and the said line of railroad be discontinued the City of Georgetown would be greatly damaged and injured thereby. THERE'FORB, BF IT RESODVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL, OF THE CITY OF GEORGETO"9'I, T'tXAS: That the City of Georgetwon, in a regular meeting to the Cit q Council of said City, here and now enter its protest against the granting of the above mentioned pamit; and here and now strenously protests the abandonment, discontinuance or removal of the said line of railroad. That Be It Further Resolved that a copy of this resolution be mailed to the said NAissouri Pacific Railroad Company, a copy to the U.,S. Interstate Commerce Commission, and a copy to each of our U. S. Senators from Texas, and a tory tp our Congressmen from this Texas District; with the prayer that said Senators and Congressmen assisit the City in pressing thisprotest, and that as a result thereof the said petition to abandon said line of railroad, be in all things be de- nied by the Interstate Commerce Commission. Passed and approved, on this the 15th day July 1957. Ordinance read by Caption: On motion of Ald. Fredericson, seconded by Compton said Ordinance Vas passed finally, by the following vote: Ayes --Compton, Freder- icson, Wilcox, Woodfin, Noes --none.
