HomeMy WebLinkAboutMIN 02.11.1957 CC-RGeorgetown, Texas February 11,1957 The City Council met in regular monthly session on the above date. Mayor J. T. Atkin presiding. The following were present t Alderman, J. H. Compton Ralph Freund. A. C. Woodfin, Kennie Wilcox Jr. Lee Co Black, City Manager H. A, Partain , Assistant City Manager, A. P. Pickle Chief of Police, the minutes of the previous meeting were read and on the motion of Aldi Woodfin , and seconded by Aldf Compton were approved as read. City Manager Lee Black read his January --report, the reports of other Officials and accounts to be approved and paid in the amount of $623.46 on the motion of Aldi Freund seconded by Aldt Compton the accounts were ordered paid and all reports were approved for filing. Mr. Black asked the Council for a pay raise of approximately 10% for all employees effective the 15th, of February 1957. On motion of Aldo Woodfin seconded by Aldo Freund the raise in pay was approved unanimously as read. Bids were opened for the purchase of a new car fok the City, the following bids were submitted. Comnpton Chevrolet Co. 1957 Buick 4 door $2,160.00 Comipton Chevrolet Co. 1957 Chevrolet 4 door 1,545.00 W. G. Lord Co. 1957 Ford 4 door 1,613.62 Truehardt Motors 1957 Studebake# 4 door 18,845-00 Freund Motor Co. 1957 Oldsmobile 4 door 2,349.47 Georgetown Auto Sales 1957 Pontiac 4 door 2,095.00 The above prices include the trade in of a 1951 Chevrolet sedan. Compton Chevrolet Co. being the low bidder on a 1957 Chevrolet 4 door sedan the motion was made by Aldo Woodfin and seconded by Aldf Wilcox that the low bid of $1,545.00 submitted by Compton Chevrolet Co. be accepted. Mr. Martin Bergstrom, Gilbert Conlee, Dr. Hal Gaddy came before the council and presented information and suggestions in regard to the dam on the San Gabriel river, Mr. Coulee also advised the Council about a Turkey processing plant that was interested in coming to Georgetown, the Council assured Mr. Conlee that this project had their full support and that Utilities would be made available. There being no Further bukiness motion was made by Ald. Wilcox, seconded by Aldf �;ompton that the meeting be adjourned.
