The City Council met in'called session on the above date','Mayor
J. T. Atkin presiding, the following aldermen and officials
were presents Aldermen J. H, Compton,- Ralph Freund, 'Kennie'
Wilcox, Jr. and A. C. Woodfin. Officials: W. H. Nunn attorney;
Lee Co Black, city manager; H. A. Partain, assistant manager;
M. L. Cates, secretary.
The following eommittemen from the Georgetown Chamber'of'Commeres
were present; Gilbert Oonoley9 Dr. Gaddy, R. D. Fletchwrt W.. Be
Caekey, Martin Bergstrom, and John Cardwell, editor of the Sun.
The meeting was called to discuss the water situation in 'the
eity,especially, and included some discussion regarding the
building of dame on the North and South San Gakalahs. There
was much discussion about both projects.
After thip. ¢,seussions the mayor and the councilmen turned theit
attention Been baa'water situation, which resulted inthe
adoption of the .following resoulutions
"A RRSOLUTION
"A resolution authorizing the restricting of water uses*in'the City
of Georgetown, Texas, and describing the use of water by -setting up
Districts and setting days for watering lawns and shrubs and any
other outside wateyings

"BB IT RBSOLVBD by the City Council of the City of Georgetown,
Texas, that owing to the prolonged drouth now existing and the fact
that our source of water for our city -in from two shallow wells,
and in these wells the water level is dropping repidly, we ask
that each water customer adneerve on'the use of water in the
fullest possible extent and declare the following regulations
of our water supply is imperative; and
"BB IT FURRIER RRSOLVRD By the City Council of the City of
Georgetown, Texas, that, as an emergency measure, the City is re*tr.
striating watering of lawns or shrubs or any other outside watering
in Georgetown, Texas, by dividing the town into five Districts,
each district to water on one day a week only; District No, I,
Monday; District No. 2, Tuesday; District No. 3, Wednesday;
District No, 49 Thursday; and District No, 5, Friday* no out-
side watering on Saturdays or"Sundays by anyone, this to take
effect Monday, August 139 1956."
