The City Council met in regular session on the above date.
Mayor J.T.Atkin presiding, the following aldermen were pre-
sent, J.H.Compton, E.K.Frederieson, Kennie Wilcox Jr. A.C.
woodfin. City Manager Lee C. Black, Asst Mgr. H. A. Partain,
City attorney W.H.Nunn, and Chief Of P021ce A.P.Pick2e.
Minutes of the last meeting were read, and on motion of
Ald. J.H.Compton and seconded by Ald. E.K.Fredericson were
approved.
Manager Lee Black read his regular report, also the monthly
report of the City Officials and statement for all general
fund bills for approval and payment in the amount of $ 236.28
on motion of Ald. Wilcox amd seconded by Ald.Compton, reports
were received and all bills ordered paid.
This being the first report of our new accounting system
the reports were eommedded by the Council and Manager Lee
Black C. P.A. George Boswell. and the office staff were also
commended on their efforts and work in preparing this report.
Motion was made by Ald. Woodfin and beconded by Ald. Frederieson
that Mr. Claude Bads be authorized to extend the audit of the
1954 books to August 31, 1955. hereafter the audit will be
made by a C.P.A. from September 1, to August 31 of each
year.
Mr. Ruben Biggs came before the Council in regard to side
walks along 15th street for the safety of the school chil-
dren using that street. The council agreed to help in any
way it could in getting this project under way .
Manager Lee Black read a letter from The Southwester States
Telephone Co. in regards to a raite increase in Georgetown
the matter was discussed and refered to a later date
There being no further buisness and on motion of Ald.
Compton seconded by Ald. Woodfin the council adjourned

The meeting was called in order that the Southwestern States
Telephone Company might present their proposed new telephone
rate for the City Of eorgetown, The telephone company was
represented by Mr. E.ttzman, Mr. G.M.Brennan & Mr Bill Vann
Mr Utzman explained the cause for the proposed new rate and
presented figures on the change. after the three representatives
of the Telephone Co. had concluded their explanations and talks
the City Council agreed to study the proposal further.
There being no further buisness on motion of Ald. J.H.Compton
and seconded by Ald. A.C.Woodfin the meeting was adjourned.
