Georgetown, Texas,
July 9, 1953.
The City Council met in an adjourned meeting on the above date,
Mayor J. T. Atkin, presiding, the following members of the Council
were present: Aldermen: J. H. Compton, Fred C. Smith, Elmer
Frederieson, Al C.Woodfin, Kennie Wilcox, Jr; City Manager Lee C.
Black, Attorney -for the City W. H. Nunn; City Marshal A. P. Pickle.
The minutes of the last meeting were read, and on motion of Alderman
Woodfin seconded by Alderman Compton were approved as corrected.
City kanager Black read his monthly report and the reports of the
other officers, including bills in the amount of $377,08, for approval.
On motion of"lderman Compton seconded by Alderman Wilcox, the reports
were received and filed and the bills ordered paid,
Report of Assessor and Collector showing tax delinquencies was read
by City Manager Black. Report was ordered received and filed.
On motion of Alderman Frederieson seconded by Alderman Woodfin the
Board of Equalization was appointed as follows: Edward Lee Evans,
J. J. Jones, Jr. and Gilbert Bredthauer. Motion carried unanimously.
Official seal for marking city equipment and decal design Was submitted
by City Hanger Black. On motion by Alderman Frederieson seconded
by Alderman Smith this seal and decal was approved. Yotion carried
unanimously.
Resolution was offered by resolution o�mmmittee: On motion of Aldermen.
Woodfin, seconded by Alderman Frederieson the resolution was unanimously
passed:

THE REVISION, CODIFICATION
TIO ORDINANCES OF THE CITY
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GEORGETOVN,
TEXAS: at a regular meeting on this the 9th day of July, 1953, that
a committee be appointed with the Attorney for tha City as Chairman,
to revise, codify and bring to date the ordinances - of the said City,
and to draft and revise such other ordinances as may be necessary.
Adopted and approved this the 9th day of Jul A. D. 1953.

Increase in telephone rates was discussed. Report of the Special
Utility Committee was submitted as follows:

We, the undersigned, as a committee, appointed to study the
question of telephone rates in the City of Georgetown, report
as follows:

That the above rates shall be effective thirty days following the
first date following their adoption in ordinance form and the final
passing of that ordinance. And that on the first billing date follovd ng
the installation and putting into service of a complete dial system
in the City of Georgetown, the following rates shall become effective:
In the event the Company has not made satisfactory progress toward
converting to Dial System, or has not satisfactorily evidenced its
intentions to do so by December 26, 1954, the Company shall reduce
rates to those in effect as of June 1, 1953.

On motion of Alderman Woodfin seconded by Aderman Fredericson
the report of the Special Utility Committee was received and approved*
Motion carried Unanimously.
Ordinance affecting telephone rates in the City of Georgetown was
presented and moved that it be read in full by Alderman Fredericson,
seconded by Alderman Wilcox. Motion carried unanimously:
"AN ORDINANCE granting to THE SOUTHWESTERN STATES TELEPHONE C WANY,
a corporation, its successors and assigns, the right,privilege, and
permit to establish monthly rates for local telephone service in the
City of Georgetown. " Ordinance shown on page of minutes,
and in Ordinance Book.
Motion by Alderman Fredericson that ordinance be passed to its
second reading at the next regular meeting to be held on the second
monday in August, seconded by Alderman Woodfin, the following was
the vote on roll call vote: Alderman Smith -Aye, Alderman Woodfin-
Aye, Alderman Wilcox -Aye, Alderman Fredericson-Aye, Alderman
Compton -Aye.
Paving improvements in the City ofd=eorgetown was discussed. On
motion of Alderman Fredericson, seconded by Alderman Compton,
It was ordered that hereafter paving be assessed at the rate of
fifty cents (50V) per running foot, and that it must be in a
complete block. Motion carried unanimously.
Maintenance and care of the park on 12th street was discussed..
There 000uring no other business, the Council adjourned to
meet at the regular meeting on the second monday in August.
