The following members were present: Aldermen: J. H. Compton, F. K. Fredericson, Fred C. Smith, Rennie Wilcox, Jr., and A. C. Toodfin; Tse'C. Black, city manager; T. H. Nunn, €.ttorney for the sf City; C. S. Senders, assessor -collector; X. Frank Clark, health officer; A. P. Pickle, chief of police and M. L. Cates, clerk. Vinutes of the previous meeting wFs read and on motion of Aldo Compton, dul seconded, were approved as read. - The monthly report of City Vrneger lee C Black was read, with the usua.l'of. fivers reports, including the bills for Ppprovsl in the amount of 9312.47. On motion of Aldo Smith, seeonded by Aldo Compton, the reports were re- ceived and filed, and the bills ordered ppid. The reportsof Assessor-CollectorrSanders, and Mr. Comer of the County Health Unit were rend end filed. There were present at this zesbion of the Council representatives from the reneral offices of The Southwestern States Telephone Co., and the local manager, -Tho heard the report of the Utilities Committee of the 6ity Council, which represented interim raise in the local rates. The spokesman of the Company expressed his idea that the rates were inadequate and requested the Council to give further consideration to the Company's original proposition. The interim raise in the local rates as issued by the Utilities Committee provided for the completion of a dial system in the city. The eommittee appointed to reeommead the disposition of the four bprr.^eks located on Southwestern Crmpus suggested that the two best conditioned buildings be repaired to first class shape a.nd that the other two be advertised for sale.
