Atkin presiding, the following members and officials were present: Aldermen: B. frederieson, J. H. Compton, Fred Cooper Smith, A. C. Wood - fine 61ri' a s ,tee C. Black, manager; VV. H. Nunn, attorney; C. S. Sandere, assessor -collector; A. P. Pickle, chief of police, end M. L. Cates, secretary. The minutes of the previous regular end called session were approved, on motion of Ald. Voodfin, seconded by Ald. Frelerieson. Report of Yanager Black was read, which included city officers reports, bills and Qecounte, amountinr to 1499.47 and also the report of the auditing committee. On motion of Ald. ':"roodfin, seconded by Ald. Frederic - eon that the reports of Yx. Black,' the city officials, and the rud.ttin,_► committee be received and filed; the accounts be paid, and the audttiag committee discharged, was carried. Persuant to the suggestion of Mr. Joe Davis of the auditing committee that the city employ auditor from the C. P. A. and establish a new or more mdern system of bookkeeping in the city office, Yayor Atkin requested the Tex Committee to make an investigation as to the feasi- bility of the proposition, and report later to the Council. Tax Assessor and Collector Sanders suggested Gilbert Bredthauer, Edward ivenessnd J. J. Jones to compose the Board of Equalization, which sug- gested was accepted by mayor Atkin. The Council unanimously ratifed the appointments, t,,gx; r Ilaak read the lease contract with Dr. Hobson Yprtin,` of the vacant lot on east 8th street, which the eity proposehotarl- apkeve*iAl- able to the public as a Free ParkingLot. On motion of Ald. Compton seconded by Ald. Toodfin the lease was approved. A letter to the Council from Yrs. Don Scarbrough was rend, reouesting a.n ordinance be passed by the Council prohibiting the sale of fireworks in the city limits. The letter was referred to the Health Committee. A motion was made by Ald Smith, reporting for the'Airport Committee," thpt the proposition of Mr. Emmett Shelton, Jr., requesting the use of the ' airport by the Terrapin Club of Austin, for ear testing one afternoon of eeeh month, that the regytest be refused. Black read a report of suggested salary increase for me.ny of the city employes, the substance of which is as follows: X`.total"_monthlY,inerease of $125.00 for 9,11 permanent employees# plus 10% increase for Time Sheet employees, except Yr.
