Griffith, presiding, the following were present: City Manager Lee C. Black; Attorney for the City, T. H. Nunn, A. P. Piekle, marshal; It. L. Cates, secretary and the following Aldermen: J. Thatcher Atkin, C. C. Hamilton, E. K. Frederisson, F. C. Smith, A. C. Toodfin. On motion of Ald. J. Thatcher Atkin, seconded by Ald. F. K. Frederic - son the minutesof the previous session was approved, with an additional word. City Manager Blick read his report, and the reports of the City Treas- urer and City Marshal, also the amount of bills and accounts to be ap- proved for payment, amounting to $?210.89.. The manager of the local telephone system and P. representative from the General Office at Brownwood were present. The Council was asked to reconsider the company's mrigdnil request of raises in the George- town system, making a comparatively report of the proposed raise re- eently submitted by the sity, and the company's original request. NO action was taken by the Council at this time, other than leaving the matter dopen-l-, for future sessions. The 2r".ayor appointed Aldermen A. Co :7oodfin and E. K. 2rederieson as a committee to eanvasg the returns of the recent city election, held April 3, 1951: The following is the report of the said committee; "Te, your committee P.ppointed to eannva.sa the returns of the City Election held in the City of Geor�►Ptorn April 7p 19I)l9 report As folio -we: For Alderman: Fred Cooper Smith,...5'1 votes J. Thatcher Atkin. ..56 votes Kenney 111ileox Jr ...... 58 votes There were three alderman to be elected. To find no oprosing votes. Res-setfully submitted, Signed: k. C. "'oodfin E. K. 7'rederieson. Com mittee." The 24,ayor declared these named in the above report duly and Constitutionally elected for the ensuing term of two years as Alderman, and each were duly sworn in as such. The 1"ryor appointed the following officials to serve for two years, according to the City's Charter: Miss Estella Byrom, City Trepsurer. C. S. Sanders, City Tax Assemsor-Collector. V.. L. Crtes,'City Secretary. A. r. Piek1P, City Yt-rghell. On motion o* SAL c't'u U.. Smith,' neconded by 1.1d.C. C. ''rmilton, the Council unanimoutly confirmed the aoove appointments. At the close of the session, City Officials presented retiring Alderman C. C. Hamilton, a gold watch chain and appropriate fob, in recognition for a -Ivr4,r and moat beneficial career as alderman.,o= twentyfive years or more. fe There appearing; no further business thw Council adjourned.
