February 13, 1950
The City Council met in regular session -on the above date, Mayor
C. S. Griffith presiding. Present: Lee C. Slacks city manager;
Aldermen% J. T. Atkin, Sam E Harris, T. P. Hoffman, Jr., Officials:
17. H. Nunn, attorney for the city; C. S. Sanders, assessor -collector;
A. P. Pickle, maxshall, Y. L. Cates, secretary.
Minutes of the previous regular snd called sessions were approved on
motion of S. T. Atkin.
City Manager Lee C. -31aek submitted his monthly report, including
bills and accounts in the amount of 587.549 also the reports of
City Varshal and City treasurer. Mr. Sanders also read his report
on collection of taxes. On motion of Ald. J. T. Atkin, seconded by
Ald Harris all reports were orderer+ filed and the accounts paid.
ypyor Griffith named as auditing committee Messrs. Claud Fads,
O.O.Hunt, On motion of Ald IiRrris, seconded by Ald.
Roffman, the council accepted the nomination unanimously.
Ordinance Committeeman offered the Salary Ordinrnce for the en -
suing hazes year and moved that it be read, the motion was carried.
The Ordinance was read in full. Ald . Harris made a motion
That the usual rules for passing ordinn.nees with the emergency clause
be suspended that tke said ordinance be kereafter read by caption and
passel to the second reading. Ald. Atkin seconded the motion, and it
carried by the following vote: Ayes --Atkin, Hoffman, Harris. Noes --none.
Ordinannce read by caption. Cn motion of alderman Harris, seconded by
Hoffman, that the ordinance aforesaid be passe to its third reading:
The motion carried by the following vote: Ayes --Atkin, Hoffman, Harris,
Noes --none.
Ordinance read by caption, on motion of Ald Atkin, seconded by Ald.
Hoffman, the ordinance was passed finnally, the following being the
vote: Ayes --Atkin, Hoffman, Harris--nones none.
Ordinance Committtman Atkin presented the Tax ordinmrce for the following
year &Md moved that it be read in full. The motion Carried.
The TaxOrdinance was Brad in full, and on motion of Ald. Adkins seconded
by Ald. Harris, the usual rules for passing ordinances e6ntaining the
Emergency Clause prevail --that the same be read by caption before
each passage, and passed to the second reading. The motion carried by
the following vote. Ayes --Atkin, Hiffman, Harris. "Toes --none.
Ordinance read by caption. Ald Harris moved that the same be passed
to the third reading, and read by caption. Ald. Atkin seconded the
motion ehich carried, the following being the vote: Ayes -Atkins Harris,
Hoffman, Noes -'done.
Ordinance read by captions and on motion of Ald. Adkins seconded by Ald.
Harries the same was passed finally, the following being the vote.
Ayes --Atkin, Hoffman, Harris, Noes --Nowa,

same be read in full. The motion was seconded by Ald. Hoffman and was
carried.

passed. Alf. Hoffman seconded the motion. The said ordinance passed finally
by the following vote. Ayes --Atkin, Hoffman Harris. Noes -None,

Representative from the State Healy► Department, division rat control
presented plans used in towns and cities relative to the elimination
of the carrier formtyphus fever germs, by dusting with DDT where
rats frequently travel, thus destroying first the flea, later
the placing of poison by the State Dept, Rodent Control. On motion
of A2d. Atkfn, seconded by A2d. Harrie, tke Council Accepted tke
plans as submitted, agreeing to pay the necessary expense.
