HomeMy WebLinkAboutMIN 01.09.1950 CC-R34 Georgetown, Texas, January 9, 1950, The City Council met in regular session on Jan. 99 1950, Mayor C. S. Griffith presiding, the following aldermen and officials, and City Manager Lee C. Black, present: Aldermen: S. T. Atkin, W. P. Hoffman, Jr C. C. Hamilton, Sam L. Harris and Fred Coopar Smith. Officials: 17. H. Nunn, attorney for the city; C. S. Ssnders, assessor -collector; A. P. Pickle, marshal, and M. L. Cates, secretary. Vanager Lee C. Black read his monthly report and that report of city marshal and tre,atisurer, also the e.mount of accounts to be paid of $338.57. On motion of Ald. To P. Hoffman, seconds. by Ald. Hamilton, tke reports were received and filed, and all bills prdered paid. The Minutes of the previous meetings were approved, on motion of Ald. Harris, AldOrman Hamilton made a motion, whick was seconded by A1d..Smith, that the City Manager receive bids on a new pick-up trucko—tiW a view of replacing one now driven by Jack Adams, and to ascertain the trade-in value of the old truck. The motion carried. The following motion was made by Alderman J. T. Atkin: "That a plat of the land purchased for a Negro Park be made and filed in the County Court Records, and the city records; That the available lots for private use be offered for sale, that a minimum price of $250.00 be made on inside lots and a minimum of $350.00 be asked for the two front lots; that said lots mn be sold on the instalment plan, with a minimum of $50.80 && down (yfirst) payment, with a maximum of three (f) years in which°' -'to pay tke balance, with interest at the rate of six (6f) per cent annually, no deed to be given until the lot or lots are paid for in full. It shall be understood that posession nor improvement can be authorized until November 1st, 1950. " All payments are to be made through the City Office. " All purchases are to be made solely through Alderman C. C. Hamilton. "That the Wegro school children of Georgetown; be given the opportunity of naming the park, or submitting names to the City Council, who shall select a name from those submitted as the one they deem the most appropriiLte, the person submitting the one selected shall receive $7.00 cash prize, which is donated individually by tke City Council." "The motion was seconded by Ald. Fred Cooper Smith, and was passed by a unanimous vote of the Council. The occuring no farther business the Council Adjourned, TTayor, C y Gfdfrgetownp Texas.
