The City Council met in regular session on the above date, Mayor C.'S.
Griffith presiding, the following members and officials being presents
Aldermen: J. T. Atkin, C. C. HRmilton, T4. P. Hoffman, Jr., Sam R. Har-'
ris and Fred Cooper Smith. r.fficers: T. H. Munn ,attorney for the city;
Co S. Sanders, assessor-cblledtor; A. P. Pickle, mn.rshall; M. L. Cates,
secretary and City Manager Lee. C. Black.
On motion of Ald. Hamilton, seconded by Alda Barris, the minutes of the
lA.st regular and celled session were approved.
A motion was made by Aldtrms,n mayor C'.' S. -Griffith b
be authorized to write a letter to V. Joe F. TR,rd, er�g
therewith a check on the City of Georgetown for 9200.009 which in addition
to a 9546.00 check previously sent the 8A id lir. 'Yard, which together
amounts to A750.009 expr-essing that it is the desire of the Council,
that Mr. Ward cash both of the above checks, in'full settlement for e.11-
tiiims against the City of Georgetown for services rendered in preparing
preliminaries for a proposed sewerage disposal system for this city,
which service was rendered the City during the official tenure of
former Mayor Georgie C. Hester,
The motion was seconded by Ald. C. C. Hamilton, and was passed by
unanimous vote of the Council.
MAnager lee C. Black, read his report, including the reports of the
City Marshal and the City TrePsurer, also the e.ccounts agA,inst the
city to be raid, in the sumof ftA7.23. On the motion of Alderman Fred C
Cooper Smith and Ald. Sam e. Hsrris the reports were received and
filed and the billordered paid.
ManA;rer Rla.ck proposed the rurchese of government 'Bonds in the amount
of t10,0150.00. nn motion of Ald. Hamilton, seconded by Ald. HF.rris,
the Council by unanimous vote authorized the proposed purchase.
On motion of Ald. Fred CoopW Smith, seconded by Ald. 'Hemilton,'the
Council by unanimous vote ratified *hp previous purchase of prperty,
Pmountinp,, to A4000.00 from Mr. W 1. Flotcher, by the Ifi%yor C. S.
Griffith and committee, f&r a proposed pA.rk for Negro citizens,
and Mr. Fletcher wars given a year's time in wmich to remove the
improvements xNw on the land at the time of the purchase of sA.id
land.
A motion was made and deconded and passed the the Council adjourn
to resume its session on ThursdAy night, December 159 1949.
