HomeMy WebLinkAboutMIN 10.10.1949 CC-RGeorgetown, Texas, October 10th, 1949 The City council met in regular session on the above date, Mayor C. S. Griffith presiding. Those present were: Lee C. Blacx City manager: Aldermen, J. T. Atkin, C.C.Hamilton, 'Q. P. Hoffman, Jr., Sam E. Harris and ?red Cooper Smith. Officials present, IV& H. Nunn, attornet for the city; C. S. Sanders, assessor -collector; A. P. Pickle, city marshall and Y. L. Cates, city secretary. On motion of Aid. Sam.F. Harris the minutes of the previous meet ings were approved. Manager Lee C. 731ack read is monthly report in cluding the reports of Treasurer Estella Byrom and City marshall, also the accounts to be aproved in the sum of $269.82. On motion of Alderman Sam E, Harris, seconded by Aldeman A. T. Atkin, the reports were received for filing, and the accounts were ordered paid. y A RESOLUTION pertaining to the selling to Southwestern University was presented to the Council by Alderman J. T. !akin, who moved that the same be read. The motion carried. SeeeResolution on page 27-A On the motion of Alderman Atkin, seconded by Ald. Smith, the Reso- lution having been read in full and contained an emergency clause, the usual rules for reading ordinances and resolutions be hereby suspended, and that the said resolution be passed to its second reading, and hereafter be read only by caption was passed unan- imously by the council by the following vote: Ayes, Hamilton, Atkin, Hoffman, Smith.(Hs.rris temporarily absent). Noes, none. Resolution read by Caption. On motion of Ald. Jr. T. Atkin, seconded by Alderman C. C. Hamilton, the said resolution was passe to its third reading. The following being the vote: Ayes, Atkin, Hamilton, Hoffman, Smith, (Ha rris temporarily Absent). Noes, none. 27 Resolution read by caption, Ald. J. T. Akin moved that the said ordinance be finally passed. Ald. C. C. Hamilton seconded the motion, which passed by the following' vote; Ayes, Atkin, HP.milton, Hoffman, Smith, Harris absent: Noes, none. Ald. C. C. Hamilton made the f^llowinpâ–º motion: "^or the purpose of creating a Fund for the pupose of taking ears of future replacements and improvements, it is ordered that the City Yanager of this City purchase as follows: $5,000.00 worth of bonds from the utility Funds and t24hbCeft $3,000.00 from the Special Parking Yeter Fund, placing the above mentioned amounts in a Fund for said improvements or replacements; and thereafter rurchase $2,0009 or such amount as the Council may determine for any particular month. The motiom was seconded by Ald. Fred Cooper Smith, and passed the Council without amd6seenting vote. On motion of Ald. 'V. ". Hoffman, Irr., and seconded by Ald. Sam E. Harris, Tax Assessor -Collector C. S. Ssnders was charged with the 1949 tax rolls in the amount of $32,978.75. There occuring no further business the Council adjourned.
