June 28, 1949
The City Council met in regular ad1larned session on the above date
?'a,yor C. S. Griffith, presiding. Present: Lee C. Black, City mana-
ger, Aldermen: J. T. Atkin, C. C. Hamilton, 7. P. Hoffman, Jr.,
and Fred Cooper Smith. Officers: C. S. Sanders, assessor -collector,
A. P. Pickle, marshal, T. H. 'Nunn, Attorney for the City and 11. L.
Cates, secretary.
Yr. iLixvin Turner, engineer of Austin, Texas was present Fnd ex-
plained in detail to the Council the plans of the city water-
works extensions, the 1^ying of the larger mains, etc. neces-
sary for the future development, as well as the present necessary
extensions of the vrater system, with a view of the city erecting
at some later date a large water reservoir on the Coffeeaddition
in the eastern portion of the city.
Alderman T. r. rioffm,-.n, ,,Tr moved that the r. ayor of the City be
authorized to sign a contract with Yr. l'arvin Turner, engineer,
of Austin, Texas, as presented to the Council by Yr. Turner, for his
services, as is stipulated in the contract, which is on file in
the Georgetown `Rater and Light Department, and is hereby made: a
part of these minutes. The motion was seconded by Ald Fred Cooper
Smith, and was pasoed by unanimous vote of the Council.
A motion was made by Alderman Atkin grad seconded byAlderman Smith,.
requesting Yr. Mvrtin Turner, to prepare plans and specification and
make the necessary arrangements for the advertising for bids on the
waterworks project, and the opening of said bids on the earliest date
possible, in orde-r to begin the work on said project as soon as
possible. The motion carried.
Alderman Smith, Delinquent Tax Committeeman, reported for the com-
mittee and stated and staed that in cooperation with the city tax
collector, it had been agreed that follow-up letters would be writ-
ten to all ntaiix_jxffxt taxpayers delinauenjr di their payments, be-
fore other legal measures for collection would be made. Ald. Smith
moved that the Council accept the rerort, and authorize the execu-
tion of the same. The motion was seconded by Ald. Hamilton, and
was carried by unanimous vote of the Council.

Ord. Committeeman Atkin, offered an ordinance, the caption of which
reads as follows:
"An Ordinance of the City of Georgetown, Texas, making it un-
lawful to keep any hog or hogs within the city limits of said city,
except as herein provided, and fixing a penalty, and declaring
an emergency."
Ald. Atkin moved that the said ordinance be read in full,
and Ald. Hoffman seconded the motion. The motion was passed unan-
imously. The Ordinance was read in full, see same in the ordinance book.
On motion of Alderman Atkin, seconded by Ald. Smith, that the
said ordinance containing an emergency clause, that all usual rules for
passing ordinances be suspended, that the said above named ordinance
be passed ix its second reading, and hereafter be read by caption
only until passed. The motion carried by the following vote: Aves,
Atkin, H^milton, Hoffman, Smith. Noes, none.

Ord. Read by Caption. On motion of Ald. 'ir,^lilton. reehndPd by
Ald. Smith, that the s1:.id ordinance be finally passed was carried by
the following vote. Ayes, Atkin, Hrrilton, Troffman, Smith. noes, none.
