The City Council met in regular session on the above da.tegrTsyor C. S.
Griffith presiding, the following Alderman and officials being Fresent.

T. IT, Nunn, and C, S. Sanders, assessor -collector.
The mayor appointed Alderman Sam E. Barris and Ald. C. C. H�-_milton
to canvass the returns of the City General Election held on Xuesday#
April 5th, 1949, who reported as follows:
"We, Sam E. Harris and 1,l )2 H ; Aldermen for the city
of Georgetown, Texas, appointed by theiyor o canvass the returns
of the last General Election, held April 5th, 1949, hereby report
that we find the returns showing as follows:
For Aldermen: J. THatcher Atkin received 61 votes
C. C. Hamilton received 61 votes
Fred Cooper Smith received 61 votes
For Assessor- Collector of Taxes:
C. S. Sanders received 61 votes
For-.Zity Recorder: 11m. H. Davis Received 61 votes

For City Teeas: Viss Estella Byrom Recd. 61 votes
For City Varshal: A. P. Pickle, received 61 votes
Signed by the committee.
Mayor C. S. Griffith, declared that each of the above aldermen and offic4
ials,weceiving amajority of the votes, there appearing no opposition,
administered the oath of office, and declared them duly and constitutions
ally electe to their respective offices for a term of two years.
A committee, representing the Georgetown Trades Day Association
was present and requested the Council to arrange for free parking
on eabh'Vednesday from 2 to 6 p.m. for all who desired to be present
on Trades Day --each Wednesday. On motion of Ald Atkin, seconded by
Ald, Harrisp the Mayor appointed City Mgr. hack to make such ar-
rangements as may be desirable through the Chamber of Commerce.
The motion carried without opposition.
Manager Lee C. Black read his monthly report to the Council, in-
cluding bills and accounts and the usual city official reports,
also including the following reports for February and Yareh:
On motion of Ald . Hoffman, seconded by Ald Atkin, the reports
of lfgr.'31ack were received and filed, and the bill oredred paid.
A resolution requesting the State Highway Department to change
the population signs on the highways entering Georgetown, to
read 6000 population, was passed on motion of Ald Harris, sec.
by A1d.I1amilton.
On motion of Ald. Harris, seconded by Ald, Hamilton, the Council
voted to raise the salary of John Heyman$10.00 per month additional.
Ordinance Committeeman Atkin presented an OCCUPATZOTT Tax Ordinance,
and moved that it be read in full. the motion was sec. by Ald. Roffman.
