The City Council met in regular session on the above date, 1 myor
C. S. Griffith presiding, the following officers and aldermen were present:
City Yanager Lee C. Black. Aldetrien: J. T. Atkin, C. C. Hnmilten, 'V. P.
Hoffman, Jr. 4xd Sam E. Harris. Officers: C. S. Sanders, assessor -collector;
W. H. Nunn, attorney for they city, Y. L. Cetes, secretary.
On motion by Ald. Harris, ascended by Ald Roffman, the minutes of the
previous meetings were epproved.
City Yanager Black read his monthly report And --Isa the reports of City
Treasurer Estella Byron and City llernha.11 A. 'o. Fickle, including the
bills and accounts amounting to $444.99. Onmetion of Ald. Atkin, seconded
by Ald. Harris, tko reports were receive and ordered filed, and tko
bills and accounts were ordered paid.
THE TAX ORDINANCE was prosehtdd by Ordinance Cmmmitteeman J. T. Atkin
and read, levying ars advalorem tax for each ` 100.00 Valuation in the
the rmount of $1.25. (See Ordinance an page "Te. 1 of the Ordinance book
Ne, 2.)
on motion of Ald. Atkin, seconded by Ald. S. F. TTPrris, the usual
rules far pmssing ordinances, eR account of their appearing an
emergency clause therein, were suspended, requiring hereafter that
the said erdina.nce be pastedyto its second reading, and read by caption
only. The Yation carried, the following being the vete. Ayes Atkin,
Hamilton, Hoffman, Harris. Nees, none.
Ordinance read by caption. OR motion of Ald. Hoffman, seconded by XLdil-
Ha*milton, the usual rules for passing Ordinances were suspended and the
said ordinance was passed to the third reading, and ordered read by
caption. The following was the vote: Ayes, Atkin, Hamilton, Hoffman,
Harris. "Tees, Nene.
Ordinance read by caption: On motion of Aldermax Atkin, seconded by Ald.
Harris, the aforesaid Ordinance was passed finally, the following being
the vote. Ayes, Atkin,rHamilton, Hoffman, Harris. *Toe!!, none.
V THE SALAnY MMT -WA C`F, establishin); the salaries to be paid those aldor-
men rind officials to be elected in the coming general election in A ril
of 1.949, for the ensuing term of office. See Ord. in Ordinance Book.
The sind Ordinance was duly and legally pasfe!d by the Council.
Aldo �,'�.r.Hefdmmn moved that City M-. nager and Ynyor of this city
be authorized to cash $339000.000 of Goverment Bonds bw%ddbPy the City
of Georgetown, Texas, the amid proceeds to be placed in a special fund
of the city known as the "Special Utility Fund". Also the said motion
authorizes the Nayor and City Manager to negotiate a loan from banks
in the amount they deem necesanry for urgent
special city projects. The motion was seconded by Ald. Atkin and
carried unanimously.
In addition thereto it was moved by Ald. Tl^rrir+, e.nd seconded byAld.
Hoffman, And carried unanimously, Authorizing the City end
Ynyor to use the. "Jnrci,�l Utility .Fund" for the pui•po$e of purchasing
piping, Etc., for the extensicn of the Georgetown `'later sand Light
Plant.
There occurinn no further business the Council Adjourned.
