AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
GEORGETOWN, TEXAS ("CITY") ALLOWING FOR EXEMPTIONS OF
CERTAIN PERMIT FEES FOR PROJECTS COMPLETED PURSUANT TO
CITY HOME REPAIR PROGRAM; MAKING SUCH OTHER FINDINGS AND
PROVISIONS RELATED TO THE SUBJECT; AND DECLARING AN
EFFECTIVE DATE.
RECITALS
It is the intent of the City Council to protect the public health, safety, and welfare; and
The City and Habitat for Humanity of Williamson County entered into an agreement on
May 22, 2018 by which Habitat for Humanity of Williamson County will administer the City's
Home Repair Program;
The City Council desires to protect the public health, safety, and welfare by exempting
projects completed pursuant to the City's Home Repair Program from certain permit fees, adopted
pursuant to Section 15.04.010 of the City Code of Ordinances; and
After conducting the public hearing on July 10, 2018, the City Council found and
determined that it would be in the best interest of the community to adopt the fee exemption
ordinance as set forth herein.
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
GEORGETOWN, TEXAS THAT
Section 1. The recitals set out above in this instrument are hereby adopted in whole as though
each were set out herein.
Section 2. The meeting at which this ordinance was approved was in all things conducted in
compliance with the Texas Open Meetings Act, Texas Government Code, and Chapter 551.
Section 3. Chapter 15.04.010 of the Code of Ordinances is amended to read as follows:
A. The provisions of the "International Building Code," 2012 Edition, including
Appendixes C, E, F, I, J and K., with the specific local amendments set forth in this
Chapter are hereby adopted. In this Chapter, the 2012 International Building Code
shall be referred to as the "Building Code" and the Building Code shall establish
regulations affecting or, relating to structures, processes, premises and safeguards.

B. A copy of the Building Code shall be placed at the Georgetown Public Library and
on file at the office of the Building Official.
C. Projects completed pursuant to the City's Home Repair Program shall be exempt
from permit fees adopted pursuant to Section 15.04.010 of the City Code of
Ordinances.
Section 4. If any provision of this ordinance or application thereof to any person or
circumstance shall be held invalid, such invalidity shall not affect the other provisions, or
application thereof, of this ordinance which can be given effect without the invalid provision or
application, and to this end the provisions of this ordinance are hereby declared to be severable.
Section 5. The Mayor is hereby authorized to sign this ordinance and the City Secretary to
attest. This ordinance shall become effective in accordance with the provisions of the Charter of
the City of Georgetown.
