HomeMy WebLinkAboutRES 08.26.1986- Rural Fire ProtectionRESOLUTION Whereas, the City Council of the City of Georgetown, Texas recognizes that the Georgetown Fire Department has for many years provided dedicated and loyal fire protection service to the citizens cf Williamson County, and to those who reside in the areas immediately adjacent to the corporate city limits of Georgetown, and Whereas, each year the high cost of providing the fire protection services to the non -city residents has been almost totally absorbed, by the taxpayers and citizens of the City of Georgetown, and Whereas, the City of Georgetown and its Fire Department desires to continue to serve the area outside the city limits with fire protection, provided that a fair and reasonable compensation is rendered for such services by the Commissioners' Court of Williamson County and/or the citizens of the area served. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF GEORGETOWN, TEXAS: That the City of Georgetown is hereby requesting fair and reasonable compensation directly from the Williamson County Commissioners' Court for providing rural fire protection in the surrounding Georgetown area. OR That the Williamson County Commissioners' Court with their desire to provide public safety for their citizens, support the City of Georgetown in establishing a Rural Fire Protection Tax District to provide the necessary funding for the service of Rural Fire Protection. In addition, the City Secretary is directed to send copies of this resolution to all of the members of the Williamson County Commissioners' Court. PASSED AND APPROVED this 26th Council of the City of Georgetown, with a lawful quorem present.
