Georgetown, Texas, Marchm8th, 1948
The City Council met in regul?r session on the above date, mayor
George C. Hester presiding, the following alderman and officers were
present: City Manager Lee C. Black: Aldermen: A. Thatcher Atkin,
C. C. Hamilton, 7% P. Hoffman, Jr., Sam a Harris and Sam 11-3. 'uilcox.
Officers: C. S. Sanders, assessorrcollectar; A. P. Pickle, marshall,
57. H. Nunn, Attorney for the city, and M`t L2 Cates, Secretary.
On Motion of Ald. Wilcox the minutes of the previous meeting were
approved.
Manager Black read the usual monthly report, including that of the
treasurer and city marshall and also bills and accounts. On motion
of Alderman Hoffman, seconded by Ald Atkin, the reports were order-
ed filed and all bills and.accounts ordered paid. (Accts $244.00)
On mtion of Alderman Atkin, seconde,1 by,Alderman Hamilton, City
Manager Black was authoized to close a 9 -year contract at $70.00
per month rent for the Eubank Building, the contract to include
two additional rooms thatt1,hefet=fDreoh&de.b6sn rented.
A number of citizens were present, including Longino, I, Gold, H.
Gold, William Lott, Mrs. Peaslee, Mrs. 01hahgluck9Huffman, Cloud,
and others were present and requested the Council to submit'a
straw vote for or against the meters at -the elty election to
be held April the 6t]%.,A motion was made by Alderman C. C. Hamil-
ton that -the Council submit the question as a straw vote, and
the motion was seconded by Alderman Atkin. The motion carried
unanimously. It was further agrred that the unofficial ballot
should contain the following words: "Unofficial ballot: For
the meters. Against the Meters."
