September 8th, 1947
The City Council met in regular session on the above date, Mayor George
C. Hester presiding, the following wire present: Lee C. Black, city
manager; Aldermen --J. T. Atkimj*J2vggC. C. Hamilton, W.P. Hoffman, Jr.,
Sam B. Wilcox, and Sam E. Harris. Officers: IP. -H. Nunn, attorney for the
city; C. S. Sanders , Assessor -Collectors A. P. Pikkke, Marshall;
X. L. Cates, secretary.
Minutes of the previous meetingwere read and on motion of Alderman Hoff-
man, seconded by Aldo Hamilton were approved.
City Manager Black read his monthly report, including the Treasurer's
Reports and mnntly bills and accounts in the amount of $231.88. On motion
of Aldetman Wilcox, the reports were received and filed, and all bills
and accounts were ordered paid.
A Plumbing Ordinance was read and discussed by the council, with
onepl=ber of the city as guest who favored some kind of ordinance
regulating the plumbing business in this city. The Council did not
conclude the study of the ordinance at this session.
"An Ordinance authorizing the sale by the city to Miss Agnes and Lettie
Edens of a small tract of land out of that portion of Ash Street, as
shown on map, that lies adjacent to the North Line of Block No. 49 ofm
South Side Addition to the City of Georgetown, Texas; -
"
"Be it oddained by the City Council of the City of Georgetown, Texas:
"That for the purpose of making the West line of that portion of Ash
street, of the City of Georgetown, that is adjacent to Block # 4, of
South Side Addition, as same appears of Record, correspond with said
street, as the same actually exists on the ground, and for the consider-
ation of one dollar paid to the City by Agnes Edens and Lettie Edens,
the Mayor of the City of Georgetown, Texas, is hereby ordered and_di-
rected to execute and deliver to the said Agnes Edens and Lettie Edens,
the following deed, which is made part of this ordinance." (see deed
on pages No. -257 AB these minutes).
On motion of Alderman Atkin, seconded by Alderman Harris that the Siad
OvdAnance be read in full. the Council voted unanimously as follows:
Ayes --Atkin, Hamilton, Hoffman, '7ilcox, H -Arris. Nees -None.
The Ordinance was read in full. On motion of Aldo Atkin',`seconded by
Alderman Wilcox, that there appearing an emergency clause in the said
aforesaid ordinance, that all rules faqutringngrdinances be read at
three successive meetings be suspended, and the said ordinance be
read by capt®nn and passed to the second reading: The motion car-
ried bjt the following vote: Ayes --Atkin, Hamilton, Hoffman, Wilcox,
Harris. Noes --None,
The Ordinance was read by caption. -On motion of Aldo Atkin, sec-
onded by Ald, Tilcox, the rules were suspended, and passed to the third
reading by the following vote: Ayes -Atkin, Hamilton, Hoffman, Harris,
Wilcox. Noes. None.
Ord, Read By Caption. On motion of Aldo Atkin, seconded by Aldo Hoffman,
the aforesaid Ordinance was passed finally, the following being the
vote. Ayes -Atkin, Hamilton, Roffman# Wilcox, Barris. Noes -None.
The Mayor declared the said ordinance dualy passed.
There occuring no further business the Cauncil Adrourned.
