Hester presiding, the following aldermen and officials being pr present: City Manager, Lee C. Black; Aldermen --J. R. Chastain, C. C. Iia Hamilton, T. F. Hoffman, Jr.; Sam E. Tilcox, and Sam E. Harris. Of- ficers: T. 11. Nunn, attorney; C. S. Sanders, assessor and collector; A. P. Pickle, marshall and 11. L. Cates, secretary. On motion of Alderman Chastain the minutes of the last meeting were approved. The monthly report of Vanager Lee C. 'lla.ck was read, together with the a.ccquuts fnr the month, which amounted to a total of 4367:752 On motion of Alderman Harris, the report was received and filed and payment of accounts approved. Aldetman S. E. Tilcox moved that the reports of the treasurer, assessor and collector and city marshall be received and filed. on motion of Alderman Chastain, the Council voted to furnish the electricity 66r the -flood lights on the campus free as had been the cutom in previous years. TAX Ordinance Ordinance Committeeman Chastain prsented the tax ordinance for the ensuing year, and moved that the same be read. The motion was seconded by Alderman -Hoffman, and was passed byatliao8slyv The Ordinance was read'in full: Alderman Chastain than moved that the usual rules taht require ordinances be read in full at three consecutive meetings be susupended, that hereafter the said ordinance be read only by caption, on account of the same containing an emergency clause, and that the said ordinance be passed to the second reading. 11dermAb-inHarris seconded the motion. The motion passed by the following vote: Ayes --Chastain, Hamilton, Hoffman, Harris, ',Vilcox. 'Toes --none. CAPTION: "An Ordinance of the the .City of Georgetown, Texas, pro- viding for the levying and collection of an advalorem tax of one and twenty-four (^91.24) Dollars on each one hundred ($100.00 Dollars in valuation on all property subjectbtO taxation in slid city for the year 1947 and providing for the application of same, when collected; and declaring an emergency." - On motion of Alderman Hoffman, seconded by Alderman 7ilcox, the ordinance was passed to its third reading, the following being the vote: Ayes; Chastain, Hamilton, Hoffman, Harris, 7ilcox. Woes --none. Ordinace read by Caption: On motion of Alderman Tolcox, seconded by Alderman Chastain, the said ordinance was passed finally, by the following vote: Ayes--Ch-stain, Hamilton, Hoffamn, Harris, Wilcox. Noes --none. The Mayor dr,clared the ordinance duly passed. SALARY Ordinance, 1947: Ord. Com. Chastain presented the 1947 Salary Red6latieenand mo moved the same be read: Ald. Harris secotnded'the motion, which was carried by unanimous vote.- (See page 197-A) On motion of Ald. Chastain, secondod by Ald. Tilcox the rules were susnende', as usually required, and the said resolution tasse to the second reading. Ord. Read by Cation: Onmotion of Ald Harris, seconded by Alderman Hamilton, the said resolution was was by unanimous vote to the third Reading, the Resolution read by caption; On motion of Alderman Chastain, seconded by Ald, Hoffman the said Resolution was passed, finally. by unnanimous vote. The Mayor declared the same duly passed. (Continued on page 197) 198 Continued from page 197 tn 0-4 RESOLUTION EXECUTING DEED OF LAND TO SCHWERTNER BROS. The following Resolution was offered the Council by Resolution Committee- man Chastain: "A Resolution Of the City of Georgetown, Texas, empowering and direct - in That the Mayor.of-said City 11 Execute and deliver TO R. H.'Schwertner a and H. W. Schwertnert the deed that is hereafter set out on pages 198-A and 198-b." Thereas the City Council of the City of Georgetown, has heretofore authorized and directed'Alderman C. C. Hamilton to find a purchaser for that certain tract of 5.07 acres of land out of the N. Poter Survey,tha is described in the deed that is hereafter set out, and: ,711 -'REAS, Alderman C. C. ?iamilton, has reported to the said 'city Council, R. H. Schwertner and H.'17. Schwertner have offered to pay the sum of seven hundred (3700.00) Dollars in cash therefor, and that the xxa said City Council has considered the said offerand finds the same to be fair, and finds that it is to the best interest of the City that the said offer be acceptedand the said land sold teherunder,therefore: BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SIIDY COUNCIL of the City of Georgetown, Texas: That the Mayor of the City of Georgetown, Texas,`is hereby authorized and directed to execute and deliver to the said R. H. Schwertner end H. Iff. Schwertner, the hereafter set out deeddof conveyance, when the said R. H. Schwertner and H. T. Schwertner shall have complied with their offers•and shall have paid in cash to the said City the sum of seven hunderd (4700.00) Dollars. That the said Deed immediately follows this resolution. Passed and approved this the 10th day of February A. D. 1947, Alder J. R. Chastain moved the foregoing resolution be passed. The motion was seconded by Alderman.S. E.
