The City Council met in regular adjourned session on the above date,
Mayor George C. Hester presidingv and the following present. City
Manager Lee C. Black. Aldermen J. R. Chastain, ;f. P. Hoffman, Jr.,
Sam Be Harris, and Sam Be Wilcox, Alderman Hamilton being absent.
Officers, Calvin S. Sanders, assessor and collector; A. P. Pickle,
Marshals M. L. Cates, Secretary.
Also present was Dr, "Palter S. Vartin, who presented a.report of
the State Health Department with recommendations to the Council
for the improvement of health conditions of the City of Georgetown.
The report was discussed at length, a portion of.which it was decide
to again consider at am future session of the council, however the
Council -considered it it most important at this time to consider
the following motion:
A motion by Alderman Sam Re 7arris and seconded by Alderman J. R.
Chastain, taht the Council having heard and considered the report
to the City made by the State Board of Health, particularly with
reference to the condition of certain slaughter houses in which meat
sold in the city is being butchered# that the city authorize and direct the
City Health Officer to at once take such necessary steps as -to
remedy the situation. The motion was carried by a unanimous vote.
The following letter dated- Sdptember 109.1946 was read:
"To the Mayor and City Council,
Georgetown# Texas
"Gentlemen: Please accept my resignation as amember of the
City Council.
Yours truly,
Signed C. C. Hamilton."
On motion of Alderman Sam Be Tilcox and seconded by Sam
Be Harris, the resignation of Alderman Hamilton was rejected,
by unanimous vote.
There oceuringno furthet business the Council adjourned to consider
pending important business being considered, which will be pre.
sented at that time.
