The City Council met in regular mobthly session May 139 19469
Mayor Geo. C. Hester presiding, the following being present:
Aldermen: J. R. Chastain, C. C. Hamilton, W. P. Hoffman, Jr.,
SaM Be Ha2ris andnSam E. Wilcox. City Manager, Lee Co Black,
W. H. Nunn, attorney for the city; C. S. Sanders, assessor and
collector; A. P. Pickle, city marshall and M. L. Cates, Secretary.
On motion of Alderman Chastain the minutes of the previous meetings
of the Council were approved as corrected in the spelling of the
name of William A. Bandy.
On motion of Aldermen Tileox all approved accounts were ordered
paid.
The Reportsof City Manager Lee C. Black, Treasurer Estella Byrom,
were received and filed.
It was moved by Alderman J. R. Chastain that the Uayncil create a
Public Health and Sanitary Committee, and that the Mayor appoint
the personnel of said committee. The motion was seconded by Alderman
S. E. Wilcox and was carried. Mayor Hester appointed Sam E. Harris and
W. P. Hoffman, Jr., to serve during the regular term of office.
Mayor Geo. C. Hester reappointed Hon. W: H. Nunn as attorney for the "
city for the ensuing two years, on the regular terms as heretofore las
paid for such services. On motion of Aldo Hamilton, seconded by
Aldo Wilcox the appointment was unanimously approved.
A Motion was made by Aldo Chastain, seconded by Ald."Hamilton
to refer the request for use of City Park land by the Sheriff's Peseej�
to the Park Committee. The motion carried.
A motion was made by Aldo W. P. Hoffman, Jr. that the city consider
the disposal of the surplus Air Port Land, ghd a-66mmitteesbe^appdinted
tbtes'tikata.the possibil*ty of doing so. The motion was seconded by
Aldo Wilcox, hnacwadiJehrried. Vaypr Hester appointed on said com-
mittee, Aldermen Hamilton and Hoffman.
V.—
On motion of Aldo Wilcox, seconded by Aldo Harris, the Council voted
to continue the Contribution of six hundred dollars per year to the
Central Texas Health Unit.
TAX ORDINANCE 1946
Ordinance Committeeman J. R. Chastain presentedthe 1946 Tax ordinance
and moved that it be read in full. Alderman Sam E. Wilcox seconded
the motion, which was carried. The Ordinance was read in full as
contained in these minutes on page 182-A, caption of which is as
follows:
"An Ordinance of the City of Georgetown, Texas, providing for the
levyin and collecting of an Advalorem Tax of One and 24,100
($1.24 Dollars, on each one hundred dollars in value for the year of
1946, on all property subject to taxation, by said city, for said
year, under the Con$tution and Laws of the State of Texas, when
collected same, same are apppropriated and ordered disbursed, aw
follows:." see page 182-A.
On motion of Alderman J. R. Chastain, suspending the usual rules for
passing ordinances, which require same to be read at each successive
meeting, owing to the fact that an emergency exists, that hereafter
the said Ordinance be read only by caption and passed to the sec-
ond reddigg. The motion was carriedp,t)ie ,following beink the vote;
Ayes --Chastain, Hamilton, Hoffman, Harris, Wilcox. Noes None.
On motion of Aldo Chastain, seconded by Aldo Hamilton, the usual
rules were suspended. Ordinance read by Caption and was passed by
the following vote: Ayes --Chastain, Hamilton, Hoffman Harris, Wilcox.
Noes --none, Ord. Read by Caption.
On motion of Aldo Chastain, seconded by Aldo Hoffman, the said Ordinan.-w
was finally passed by the following vote: Ayes --Chastain, Hamilton,
Hoffman, Harris, Wilcox. Noes --None.

On motion of Ald. J. R. Chastain, Atty. for the City W..H. Nunn was
requested to draw up an Ordinanee'providing'.for the appointmnt
of a city Recorder for the Corporation Court. Ald. Wilcox sec-
onded the motion and the same was passed*
The expense account forltsmager. Lee C. Black incurred' by his
attendance on the City Managers Convention recently at San Angelo
was approved by the Council
There occuring no further business, the Council adjourned.

The City Council met in called session on the above date, Mayor Geo,
C. Rester, presided, and the following were present: Aldermen: J. R.
Chastain,C. C. Hamilton, W. P. Hoffman, Jr.,'Sam B. Harris and Sam
B. Wilcox.. City Manager Lee C. Black. Attorney W. H. Nunn, and
Secretary M. L. Cates.
The meeting was called for the discussing of Sanitary and Mos-
quito Eradication Program, after which the following business was
transacted:
On motion of J. R.- Chastain, seconded. by C. C. Hamilton, City'
Manager was given authority to purchase the necessary supplies
for bringing into the city the Ble etrieal Lines from
Lower Colorado River Authority Lines.
On motion of J. R. Chastain, seconded by C. C. -Hamilton, at the
request of City Manager Black the Council" voted Unanimously
giving Manager Black authority to Increasem the"hourly labor
pay to 10c per hour ,-and all formen of the city ateadd@liars
pe* Month.
There occurring no further business the council
adjourned.
