The City Council met in regular session on -the above date, Mayor
M. F. Smith presiding, the following aldermen and officers being
present: Aldermen F. E. Buchholz, J. R. Chastain, C. C. Hamilton,
W. P. Hoffman, Jr. and Sam E. E. Wilcox. Officers,`Wayne Magill,
marshal; Calvin S. Sanders, assessor and collector; M. L. Cates,
secretary and B. H. Cruce City Manager,
On motion of Alderman Chastain all approved bills were ordered paid.
On motion of Alderman Hoffman the monthly report of City Marshal
Wayne Magill was received and filed.
The committee appointed to make investigation of the location of
a telephone for the use of the city marshal and watchman reported
the it had decided to leave the telephone at its present location,
butthad decided to attach thereto A gong.
A motion wag made and passed unanimously that the city marshal
shall deputize the-nightwatchman,-whoich is at prenent`Thomas
Russell, Jr. and Require thb.tnhe -�it bzadndff is inl bond.
_� The Committee appointed at the last meeting to investigate and
Vrecomme:idethe tax rate for the ensuing year, the same rate of f1.24
on the 9100 valuation.
Ordinance Committeeman, Alderman J. R. ChastAin, presented -the fol-
lowing tax ordinance and moved that it be rpad in full. The motion
carried.. The following is the ordinAnc-:

AN CRDINAITCE Of the City of Georgetown, Texas for --the levying' and
collecting of an Advalorem Tax of One'and 24/100-'(A1.24) Dollarg,-,
on each MEEOiiUI1DRED (A100.00) Dollars in valuation, for the year 19459
on all property subject to taxation by the said city, for the said .
year, under the provisions of the Constitution and Laws of the State
of Texas, and declaring an emergency"?2
"BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL, OF THE CITY OF GEORGETO'"mT;-
"That-for the year of 19459 thero'shall be levied and collected
an advalorum tax of One and 24/100 01.24) Dollars, on each One Hundred
0100.001 dollars in valuation, on all prorerty of every description
that is subject to such a taxation under the provisionsm of the-Consti4
tution and Laws of the State of Texan; and the said taxes when so levied
and collected by the said City, on property therein, are hereby appro-
priated and ordered exnended ,a,s follows: -
"lst. To PAY the government expenses of thedsdidyCity an'the same shall
accrue, seventy-six (.76) cents on each One Hundred Q100,001 -dollars
in valuation. _
"2nd. To pay the principal and interest as the same shall accrue, on All of
the remaining unpaid Bonds of the said City, known as IS =T BONDS',
twenty 0.201 Cents on each One Hundred ff100.001 dollars in valuation.
"3rd. Topav the nrincipal and interPat as the same shall accrue on all the
remaining unpaid Bondsof the said City, known as 'PAVING BONDS',
twelve 0.121 Cents, on each One Hundred (SlnO.00) Dollars in Valu-
ation.
"4th. To nay the principal and interest, as the same shall accrue, on all the
remaining Bonds of the said City, known as 'AIRPORTBONDS', ten (0.I0)
Cents on each One Hundred (SION 00) Dollars in valuation.
"5th. To pay the principal and interest, as the same shall accrue, on all
the unpaid Warrants of the said City, known as'AIRPORT WARRANTS', six
3.06) Cents, on each One Hundred (1100.00) Dollars in valuation.
"THAT the fact that it is necessary to -make prompt and efficient pro-
visions for the raising of money by taxation, for the purposes above
set out creates an emergency and public necessity that the rules be "
suspended, and that this ordinance be at once Dassed, and that it take
effect from and after its passage."
PASSED and approved this the 9th day of April# A. D. 1945.

Motion by Alderman J. R. Chastain that the above Ordinance be �
passed to its second rpa.ding and that on all readings hereafter
theeusu.al rules for passing ordinances be hereby suspended, and
the same be read by caption, was seconded by AldermanF. E. Buchholz,
and the same was passed unanimously, the following being the vote:
Ayes --Buchholz, Chastain, Hamilton, Hoffman, Wilcox. Noes. None.

the said Ordinance was finally passed ,the following being the vote:

SALARY ORD.
Caption: "An Ordinance of the City of Georgetown, fixing the salaries
of officers oft the said city to be elected at the regular City e
election to be Feld April 3rd, 1945:
The above salary ordinance was presented by Committeer;an J. R. Chastain
who made a motion that the same be read in full. The motion was sec-
onded by Alderman 'rilcox and was carried. SeeOrd. on page 158-a. of which the
ab ove is caption.
A motion was made by Ald-rman Chastain that the said ordinance be passed
to its second reading and that the rules usually covering the passing of
of ordinances be suspended and that hereafter the said ordinance be
read by caption. The motion was seconded by Alderman Hamilton and was
passed by the following vote. Ayes --Buchholz, Chastain, Hamilton,
Hoffman, Wilcox. Noes --None,

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That for water and light plant employees, (other than
the Aunerintpndent) the highest salary the City Manager shall be allow-
ed to pay shall be 70c an hour for chief operator and 65c an hour forxxxxi
assistant opprstnrs.
That for all other full-time ettY-)Fma1oyPes, the highest salary the C
City Manager shall be a11ompd to pay shall be 60c an hour.
BE IT Further RPRolvpd, That regular or full time nay for plant Pm-
ployees shall exclude one day PvPry other week, and for all other
city emnlnveeR shall exclude one And a half days A week, namely,
Saturday aftprnnon and Sunday.
Be It Further Reanlvpd, That no deduction of regular or full-time
emloyees' waaPR shall be made for absences from work from sickness.
NPither shall AeductionR be ma.dp from their wn.gPR for other emergency
absences if such absences are approved by both the employeeA immediate
superintendent and the City Manager.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, Ths+ all employees who have been placed on a full-time`
schedule ¢hall be entitled to herniddvacation of the following duration if
the employee has workeA -on said full-time employment one full year prior
to January 1st of the year in which siad vacation is to be taken.
Plant employPeR shall have Itolve (12) full days Paid vacation, and
all other employees shall have five (50 days raid vacation.
