August 16, 1944
The City Council met in regular session on the above date,
r'ayor 11. F. Smith presiding, the following ald(rmen end officers were
present: Ald-rmen; F. E. Buchholz, J. R. Chastain, C. C. Hamilton -
T. H. Hoffman, Jr, ands. F. 71lcox. Officers: T". L. Cetesy secretary:
elso B. H. Cruces manager of city utilities end "'. N. ?Tunny acting -
city attorney.
On motion of J. R. Chastain, minutes of the previous meeting were
approved.
On the motiop of F. E. Buchholz ell approvel accounts were ordered
paid.
An ordinance definintathc;�dutieefof71rli'ty-,l,Fgnager, conforming to the
General Lags if the State of Texas, permitting City Councils of
Cities of 2500 population to desiginate a, person as City l�enager,
was presented bey crddnancevaammitteeman J. R. Chastain, who moved
that the same be read in full. The motion was seconded by Alderman
C. C. Hamilton, end was carried unanimously.
The ordinance was read infull. (See same on pages 148.A, T, C,)
included in these minutes.
Alderman Chostain moved that the said ordinance be passed to its
second reading. The motion was seconded by Alderman -'i. u. Hoffman, Jr.
and was passed bar the following vote: Ayes--Buchholzp Chastainy H, -mil -
tong Hoffmann, and ,Vilcox. IToes--none.
Yayor Smith appointed Aldermen Buchholz and Chastain as a committee
to study the said ordinance, and make such recommendations as to
the deem best regarding same.
The Council heard an interesting report from lianager of Utilities
after which it adjounrned.
