January 10, 1944
The City Council met in regular session on the above date,
Mayor if. F. Smith presiding, the following aldermen and offiers
beibg present: Aldermen; F. F. Buchholh' J. R. Chastain, C. C. Hamil-
ton, W. H. Hoffman, Jr. and Saxe E. Wilcox.'Officers: Albert May,
marshal; C. S. Sanders, assessor and Collector; B. H. Cruce
City Yanager"of Utilities, streets and Parks, and M. L.
Cates Secretary.
On motion of A1dFrman S. E. Tileox, the minutes of the last
meeting were arproved.
On motion of Alderman 'f. P. Hoffman all approved accounts were
Ordered payed.
The Reports of officers C. S. Sanders, assessor and collector;
His Estella Byrom, treasurer, and Albert I.Zay, marshal,- wl.re ap-
ceived and filed, on motion of Alderman ;Yilcox.
A motion was made by Alderman Buchholz, seconded by Alderman
Hamilton that City Utilities manager, B. H. Cruce, be authoriz-
ed the purchase in the forthcoming Bond drive, such amout of
bonds from Monies of the Water and Light rlanja as he deems
advisable. The motion carried by unanimous vote of the Council.
A motion was made by Alderman Iilcox and seconded by Ald-rman
Hoffman that the ?'payor appoint a committee tocooperate with
the city assessor and collebbmr in arriving at the tax valuation
for the coming year, preparatory for the tax ordinance to be
dra-an by :kkx City Attorney Nunn. The motion was passed.
The following committee was appointed. Chastain, Tilcox and Hoff-
man. The cooperation of City Yanager of,Utilities B. H. Cruce
was enlisted.
I.layor !, . F. Smith Reappointed T.Ir; B. it. Cruce as manager of City
Utilities, Streets and Parks. On hriotion of Alderman Wilcox, secs
onded by Alderman Buchholz that the appointment be approved at
the same salary heretofore paid . The motion carried unanimously.
The I"eyor Reappointed `9. H. Nunn as attorngyfor the city, under
the usual terms. The Appointed was unanimously confirmed by
the Council.
on motion of Alderman Hamilton, seconded by Alderman 'Buchholz,
the Council unanimously confirmed the appointed of the follow-
ing as auditing committee: 1'.essrs. Lee LT. Taylor, Henry Chreitz-
berg and Claude Eads.
There Occuring no further business the Council adjourned.
