L. --Cates, Secretary, Georgetown, Texas August 9/43 regular session on the above date, lhyar the following alderman and officer's being' Buchholz, T. R. Chastain, C. C. Hamilton, Sam r. '7ilcox. Officers: C. S. Sunders, - Attorney -V. H: Yunn, Albert Yay, Yarshal, and Be H. Cruce, manager of utilities. On motion of Alderman J. R. Chastain, the minutes of all previous meetings were approved. on motion of Alderman C. C. Hamilton, all approved accounts were o ordered paid, On motion of J. R. Chastain, seconded by Alderman F."F. Buchholz, the following Resolution was read and approved by unanimous vote of the Council: "Resolution of the City Council of the City bf Georgetown, Texas, declaring a necessity that permits for taxieabs to the -number of five be granted." "Whereas, The City Council finds taht in the -First Jay 'of- January, A. D. 1942, there was in operation in the City of Georgetown,'two taxiicabs that were known and recognized as such by said city, and that -at the time the said number were barely sufficient to care -for the convenience and necessity of persons desiring the use of same; and that since that time the population of the city has increas- ed to an -estimated number of five thousand, and said population of said city is estimated to be five thousand at this time, and that such increase is to a large extent composed of students of :kk the urine Corps and the Navy, attending the University here, and - also of soldiers and their families located here; and that by reae son of War Activities at and near this city, the necessity for the use of taxicabs, in proportion to the population of the City, has greatly increased, and that in the judgment of the City Council that as many as five taxicabs are necessary. Therefore; Be It 4esolved by the City Council of the City of -Georgetown; That taxicab permits, including the number thereof hranted, may be issued to the number of five; but until further ordered shall not exceed that number. Passed and approved this 9th day of August, A. D. 1943. " Votion was made by Alderman C. C. Hamilton, and was seconded by Alderman We 1I. Hoffman, Jr., that 11r. R. Z. Gallaway be permitted to contact city employees mn a cooperative plan life insurance policy. on motion of Alderman C. C. Hamilton seconded by Alderman F.
