The City Council met in adjourned session on the above date,
August 2, 19439 Mayor L2, F. Smith presiding. Aldermen present:
F. E. Buchholz, J. R. Chastain, C. C. Hamilton, '7. P. Hoffman, Jr.,
and S. E. Tjilcox. M. L. Cates, Secretary.
Persuant to a request of Manager of Utilities R.' E. "Vard,' thi.t he
be replaced as manager as soon as practicable, the Council went into
executive session to further consider applications fok the position
held by Mr. `.hard. Upon conclusion of said discussion a motion was
made by Alderman T. P: -Hoffman, Jr. that Mr, B. H, Cruce be em-
ployed as manager of utilities to succeed Mr. R: E. ',hard, at a
salary of $250.00 per month. The motion was seconded by'Alderman
J. R. Chastain,'and was carried by a unanimous vote of the
Council members.
There appearing no further business the Council adjourned.

The City Council was called by the mayor, M. F. Smith, at the
request of the City Health Officer Dr, Walter S. Martin and C.
V. Covington; director of Central Texas Health Unit to discuss
the importance of a clean-up Campaign for Georgetown. A motion was
made, -after hearing the health authorities explain the importance
of the campaign due to the prevalence of Poilio in other parts
of the State, that the Mayor and City Health Officer inagguarate
such a campaign for Georgetown, at the earliest possible time,
and to stress the importance of said campaign at*this time.
The motion was duly seconded. and was carried unanimously.
