Smith presiding, the following aldermen and officers being present: Aldermen: F. E. Buchholzp J. R. Chastain, C. C. Hamilton$ W. P. Hoffman, Jr., Sam F. Wilcox. Officers: C. S. Sandersp assessor and collector, W. H. Nunn, attorney; Albert May Marshal; M. L. Cates,seeretary, and Manager R. F. Ward, On Motion of Alderman Hoffman, the minutes of the previous regular and adjourned sessions of the council were approved. On motion of Alderman Wilcox all approved accounts weren ordered paid. Prtiideb� 1tdm and Businesa Manager McCook of Southwestern' University appeared before the Council and suggested the water requirements bf the university to comply with those of the Governmebt in connection with the Navy traingng school and also -the dairy interests of that institution. On motion of Alderman Buchholz, seconded by Alderman Vi.lcox, Slater and Light - Committeeman and Manager R. E. Ward were authorized to cooperate with the university authorities for a satisfactory solution of the water supply problem. Ori motion of Alderman Hamilton, seconded by Alderman Buchholz a Charge of 50 cents wAs voted for the servicing of priv*es in the city limits, to become effective on the first day of May.`. pomldiOrdnance Committeeman Chastain presented making it unlawful for ® 2, �J any person to prevent or to attempt to prevent the Pound Man of h the said city from discharging his duties as such and fixing a penalty and creating an emergency,"and moved that it be read in ,�7 full. Themmotion was seconded by Alderman Wilcox, and the vote' 19asried as follows: Ayes, Buchholz, Chastain, Hamilton, Hoffmanvic'?►r Wilcox. ]'Toes None. The Ordinance was read in full. On motion of Alderman Chastain, seconded by Alderman Hamilton, the usual rules requiring ordinances to be read at three successive meetings, and the said ordinance be read by caption, xxxx and the same be passed to its second reading was passed. The following being the vote: Ayes --Buchholz* Chastain, Hamilton, Hoffman, Wilcox. Noes --None. Ordinance was read by Caption. Onmotion of Alderman Wilcox, Seconded by Alderman Chastain, tkat the usual rules be further suspended, that the said ordinance be passed to the third read- ing and be read by caption was passed by the following unanimous - vote. Ayes--Buehhdlz, Chastain, Hamilton, Hoffman, Wilcox. Noes -- None. Ordinance read by Caption. Cn motion of Alderman Chastain, -sec- onded by Alderman "lileox, the said ordinance was passed finally, by the following unanimous vote; Ayes --Buchholz, Chastainp Hamilton, Hoffman, Wilcox. Chastain prsented an Ordinance of which the following is the caption, and moved that it be read in full: V " An Ordinance of the City of Georgetown, Texas# prohibiting the owning, maintaining or operating of any Toilet, Commode, sink or bath that is flushed with water, unless such toilet", commode, sink or bath be connected with or flushed into a septic reservoir or takn constructed and maintained -in accordinance with the rules pro- vided by the Department of Health of The State of Texas; and creating an emergency." The motion was seconded by Alderman Hoffman, and was passed by the following vote: Buchholz, Chastain, Hamilton, H Hoffman, Wilcox. Noes --None. The Ordinance was read In Full (See Page 1274B). On Motion of Ald- erman Chastain, seconded by Alderman -Hoffman, the usual rules for passing ordinances was suspended, the said ordinance pas passed Ja its second reading# and read by caption, the following being the vote: Ayes --Buchholz, Chastain, Hamilton, Hoffman, Wilcox. The following was the vote% Ayes -- Buchholz, Chastain, Hamilton, Hoffman, Wilcox. Noes --None. Ordinance Read By Caption. Alderman Buchholz moved that the said Ordinance be passed Finally. Alderman Buchholz SecoXnded the motion and the same oration was by the unanimous vote of the Council, as follows: Ayes --Buchholz, Chastain, Hamilton, Hoffman, Wilcox. Noes -- None. H V.� Committeeman Chastain -presented the Tax Ordinance for -the year of rA X 1943, and moved that it be read in full. The motion was seconded by Alderman Hoffman and was passed unanimously, ky the following being the vote: Ayes --Buchholz, Chastain, Hamilton, Hoffman, Wilcox. Noes --None. (See page 128-a3 L The Ordinance was read in Full. On motion of Alderman Chastain, the usual rules for passing ordinances was suspended -and the said ordi nance passed to its second reading and to be read by caption. Alder- man Buchholz seconded the motion. The following was the vote: Ayes -- Buchholz, Chastain, Hamilton, Hoffman, Wilcox. Noes --None. Ordinance Read by Caption. On motion -of -Alderman Wilcox, the usual rules for passing -ordinances, requiring that the same shall -be read by captdan' only, having been seconded by Alderman Hamilton, the xxmzxxxx said ordiaa nance was passed to its third reading. The vote was as follows: Ayes -- Buchholz, Chastain, Hamilton, Haoffman, 11ilcox, Noes --None. Qrdinance read by Caption. Alderman Tileox moved that it be passed finally. Alderman Hoffman seconded the motionm which was passed by a unanimous vote as follows: Ayes --Buchholz. Chastain, Hamilton, Hoff- man, Wilcox. Noes --None. S61Ity An Ordinance of the City of Georgetown fixing the salaries of the Vrd' officers of the said City elected at the Regular Election held April 6th, 1943, and declaring an emergency, was presented by Ord. Committeeman Chastain, and read in full, and he moved that it be passed. Alderman Wilcox seconded the motion and it was passed by the followung vote. Ayes --Buchholz, Chastain, Hamilton, Hoffman, Wilcox. Noes, -None. Nil k Ordinance Committeeman Chastain brought the Sanitary" Milk Ordinance Yr � passed to its second reading at the regular March meeting of the 3 ham, Council, before the Council and read the same in full, and moved that r it be passed to its third reading. Alderman Buchholz seconded the motion of Alderman Chastain, and the said motion was unanimously vatried, the following being the vote: Ayes --Buchholz, Chastain, Hamilton, Hoffman, Bileox. Noesw-None. F+('Cr,-�1Mayor Smith appointed Aldermen Buchholz and Hoffman to canvass the kq,.'returns of the r1guli neity election held on April 5, 1943, and the 0f the committee reported the results as -follows: For Aldermen-- J. R. Chastain, 57; C. C. Hamilton, 58; S. F. Tilcox, 58. For Treasurer -- Miss Estella Byrom, 58 votes; ^or Secretary, M. L. Cates, 58 votes; For City Marshal; Albert ray, 58 votes; For Assessor and Collector -- C. S. Sanders, 58 votes. 2kmmxxp= Each receiving a majority' of the votes cast, Mayor Smith declared each elected to ther respective offices as above named, and all were duly and constitutionally installed, after the bonds of the bonded officials were approved.
