The City Council met in regular session on the above date,
Mayor M. F. Smith presiding the following aldermen and officers
were presents Aldermen: F. E. Buchholz, J. R. Chastain, C. C.
Hamilton, W. P. Hoffman, Jr. Officers: C. S. Sanders, assessor
and collector; Albert May, Marshal; M. L. Cates, secretary;m
and R. E. Ward# manager utilities and W, H. Nunn, attorney
for the city.
The Bills and acounts were read -and on motion'of Ald erman C. C.
Hamilton all approved bills were ordered paid.
On motion of Alderman J. R. Chastain, seconded by Alderman C. C.
Hamilton the monthly reports of Treasurer Estella Byrom,mand
Assessor and Collector C. S. Sanders were received and filed.
On motion of "J. R. Chastain, seconded by Alderman Buchholz
the annual election was called by the Mayor for the First
Tuesday in April for the purpose of electing three aldermen,
an assessor and collector of taxes, a treasurer, a city marshal,
and a secretary for the city of Georgetown, Texas, for the
ensuing term of two years. Mr. Lee M. Taylor was named
presiding judge of slid election.
Alderman J. R. Chastain, ordinance committeeman, presented'
the following ordinance which was read in full, thdxcQ)tiont62a
of which ordinance is as follows:
"An Ordiinance making it mandatory the -grading -and labeling of
milk and certain milk products sold or offered for sale within the
corporatelimits of the City of Georgetown, Texas. Prohibiting the
sale of adulterated,--mitbranded or ungraded milk or milk products: -
requiring and providing for the issuind and revoking of permits for
the sale of milk and milk products: authorizing and directing the city
healf officer to receive application for, inspect dairies and milk
plants and grant or revoke permits to persons, firms or corporations
to sell or offer for dale graded milk and milk products within in said
city; regulating the sale of milk and milk products within the limits of
of said city: providing for the?construction of future'dairies and
milk plants: adopting the provisions of Senate Bill 83 passed by
the regularsession of the 45th Legislature, 1937; Fixing a panalty for
its violation; repealing all ordinances and parts of ordinances in
conflict with this ordinance; providing for the enactment of this
ordinance. . . . . . . . "
Considerable discussion was had thru the leadership of representa-
tives from the Central Texas Health Clinic. It was agreed to postpone
action on the ordinance until the same had been published avd the
further studying of its contents, and to bring the same up for
further consideration at an adjourned sessi n Monday night, March
15th, 1943.
