Smith rresidIng,_the-following aldermen and officers were present: Aldermen, F. E. Buchhold, J. R. Chastain, J. C. Godbey, S. E. Wilcox; Officers: Albert May, marshal; W. H. Nunn, city attorney; C. S. Sanders, assessor and collector, and R. E. Ward manager of city utilities. On motion of Alderman Buchholz the minutes of the previous meeting were approved. All approved accounts were ordered paid and reports of officers were received and filed. A resolution was. offered by committeeman Godbey to make deed of con veyance to E. H. Eanes, ;gym. R. Lanes and John If. Sharpe, of the Sou$hh half of lot 2, block 40 of the revised map of the city of Georgetown Texas, directing the mayor to execute the same. (See Resoulution in full on page'86-A). Alderman Godbey moved the said resolution be read in full. The motion was seconded by Ald. Chastain and was carried unanimously, the following alderman voting aye; Buchholz, Chastain,Godbey, Wilcox. Noes, none. The said Resolution was read, in full. A motion was made by Ald. J. R. Chastain that the same be adopted, that all rules govern- ing the passage of ordinances and resolutions be and are hereby suspended, the said ordinance containing the emergency clause# and that it be passed to the second reading. The motion was seconded by Aid . S. E. Wilcox and pas passed unanimously by the following vote:oAyes, Buchholz, Chastain, Godbey, Wilcox. Noes, none. The usual rules for passing resoulutions and ordinances being heretofore suspended, the said above resolution was read by caption. On motion of Ald. F. E. Buchholz, seconded by Ald. J. R. Chastain the same was passed to the third reading by the following unanimous vote. Ayes, Buchholz, Chastain, Godbey, Wilcox. TToes, none. Resolution read by caption. On motion of J. R. Chastain, seconded by Alderman S. E. Wilcox the said resolution was finally adopted, the following being the unanimous vote of the council present: Ayes, Buchholz, Chastain, Godbey, Wilcox. Noes, none. Mr. I. J.,McCook, Business Manager South Western University was present and presented details proposing that the university lease the Cody Memorial Library from the City of Georgeton, and a motion by Alderman Chastain, seconded by Ald. Godbey that the Mayor execute a lease to Southwestern University was.earried unanimously. A motion was made by Alderman Buchholz, seconded by Alderman Wilcox, that H. J. Swenson be allowed to install gas pumps on University Avevi filling station, located also on the corner of dhurcl Street inter- section of siad avenue, under the supervision of dity Marshal Albert May was carried unanimously. The matter of purchasing tires for city fire truck was opened, and representatives of bidders heard, and further negotiations were referred to the fire committee. Max Sansom was reappointed as paid fireman for 12 months. A Salary Ordinance was offered the Council by the committee naming the salaries for officers to be elected in the April 1941 election. Alderman Godbey moved that the same be read in full, and F. E. Buchhold seconded the motion which was unanimously passed, the following alderman voting aye: Buchholz, Chastain, Godbey, Wilcox. Hoes, none The Ordinance was read in full (see page 86-B). A motion was made by Alderman Chastain, that the same contained the emergency clause, therefore all usual rules for passing ordinances be and are hereby suspended, that same be read only by caption hereafter, and that it be passed to the second reading. The motion was seconded by Ald. F. E. Buchholz, and was carried unanimbusly as follows; Ayes, Buchholz, Chastain, Godbey, T7ilcox. Noes, none. (over)
