The City Council of Georgetown Yet in regular session on the
above date, Mayor 12. F. Smith presiding, the following ralderinen and
ofiicers were present: Aldermen— F. E. Buchholzq J. R. Chastain,
J. C. .Godbey and S. E. Wilcox, Alderman C. C'. Hamilton was absent
on account of illness. Offieersl C. S. Sanders , assessor and col
lector; W. H. Nunn, city attorney; Albert May,'marshal; IT. L. Cates,
secretary and R. F. `yard, manager of utilities.
On motion of Aldemmn*n J. R. C#iastain the minutes of the previous
sessions were approved.
On motion of Alderman J. R. Chastain, all approved accountswere
ordered paid.
The monthlym reports of City Tax Assessor and Collector C. S.
Sande.rsrand City Varshal Albert 'May were read and on motion of
Alderman S. E. Wilcox were apoergddfiled.
A Motion was made -by Alderman J. C. Godbey and seconded by Alderman
J. R. Chastain authorizing Manager R. E.'Tard of the Georgetown
Water and Light Plant, to transfer $1,000.00 from the funds of
the water and Light department to the City -General Fundand also
approving the transfer of funds from the Water and Light plant
funds trabsferred to the said General Fund of the cityin Spetember
September 1940,
The Council had committees from the the Junior Chamber of Commerce
and the Georgetown Chamber of Commerce in the interest of the pro-
posed establishment of an NYA Resident Center on the City Park
property tendered for that purpose by the city at a recent
called session of the Council. Petitions with a large number of
names of Georgetown citizens.were presented the council, to show
the general approval of the public as to the possible means of
the city obtaining the necessary money which the city had pro-
posed to contribute to the project. No action was taken by the
council, it appearing that it was best to wait for the action of
the Goverment on the proposition previously submitted by the Council.
