HomeMy WebLinkAboutMIN 02.12.1940 CC-R71 Georgetovvn, Texas, February 129 1940 The City Council met in regular session on the above date, Mayor M. F. Smith presiding, the following aldermen and officers being present: Rldermen: F. Be Buchholz, J. R. Chastain, J. C. Godbey, Co C. Hamilton, and S, Be Wilcox. Officers: Albert May, marshal, We H. Nunn, city at- torney; C. S. Sanders, assessor afid collector; Manager Utilities R. Be Ward, and M. L. Cates, secretary. The minutes of the previous regular meeting and called session were read and on motion of Alderman Chastain were approved. All approfed accounts were ordered paid. Monthly reports of Treasurer Estella Byrom, and Assessor and Collec- tor C,'S. Sanders were read and on motion of Alderman J. R. Chastain, and seconded by Alderman Wilcox the same were filed. Resolution Committeeman J. C. Godbey prsented the following Resolution nad moved that it be adopted: "Resolution of the City Council of the City of Georgetown, Texas, offering to convey to the Highway Department one and a half acres off the Northwest corner of the Park Tract for warehousing vind grounds, "Thereas, the Highway Department of Texas desires to move its present warehouse to a more convenient place on the highway, and whereas it is to the interest of the city that the said warehouse be kept at a place near to the said city; "Therefore, Be It Resolved, by the City Council" of the City of Georgetown, Texas, that the said city hereand now offet to Con- vey to the Highway Department of Texas, one and a half 4cres of land out of the Northwest corner of the San Gabriel Park Tract, for such warehouse and grounds." Alderman C. C. Hamilton seconded the motion, and the same was passed by the unanimous vote of the Council. It was moved by Aldei*man Godbey and seconded by AldermansBuchholz that the Mayor appoint a committee to work in conjunction with NNager Utili- ties R, Be Ward, asd Tax Assessor and Collector C. S. Sander*,,bndiTreas- urer Miss Estella Byrom, in proportioning the current tax rate to the different city funds, as proposed to be passed at an adjourned regular session of the Council on February 19th. The motion passed and `the Mayor appointed on said committee Aldermen Hamilton, Wilcox and Chastain. Ordinance Committeman Godbey presented the salary ordinance, and mowed` thst it be read in full. Alderman Buchholz seconded the motion, which 3M carried unanimously. The ordinancefollowoY: ( See Page 71-A). On motion of Alderman J. C. Godbey, that the usual rules governing the passing of ordinances requiring that the same be read in full, Btc,, be hereby suspended, the said forgoing ordinance containlhg the emer- gency Claus, and that the same be peadcbyfapt:LonEand'ipaseadisg the second reading, after being seconded by Alderman F. Be Buchholz was passed unanimously. The Vote: Ayes --Buchholz, Chastain, Godbey, Hamil- 1 ton, Wilcox. Noes --None. @remotion of Alderman F. Ayes, Buchholz, Chas- tain, Godbey, Hamilton, Wilcox. Noes. None The Motion of Alderman S. Be Wilcox, seconded by Alderman C. C. HamiJ4 ton that the ordinance be read by caption and passed finally was carried by the following unanimous vote: Ages: Buchholz, Chastain, Godbey, Hamilton, Wilcox. Noes --None.
